Tommy by stoppage before the 6th. Kesslers a decent fighter, but someone as robotic as him would be easy pickings for Hearns.

The guy from 1:51 -2:00 is Pipino Cuevas, a guy who threw some of the hardest, most vicious punches of any welterweight, ever. Cuevas was coming off about a dozen successful title defenses, and I think he knocked all of those guys out. It was a young Hearns' first title shot.

And Hearns destroyed Cuevas in 2. Cuevas was never the same after.

I don't know the names of the other two guys, I think they were guys Hearns steamrolled in his early career. I do know that one of those clips was even more impressive than it looks in that video though, because Hearns hit the white guy twice with perfect straight rights without needing to reset his feet. Check out :42-:47 of this video to see what I mean.

I don't see what laying Duran out at 154 lbs. and those highlights of him against smaller guys has to do with this matchup.

Duran's a much smaller guy and a different type of fighter than Kessler. Same with Cuevas.

This fight's going to be at a much higher weight, 168, where Hearns was starting to age by the time he got there. He struggled badly against James Kinchen and almost got stopped at 162 in the rematch with Leonard, even though he should've won. The belief going in was that Hearns was shot. He may not have been shot, but clearly wasn't what he once was.

Plus, his chin started being more vulnerable once he got to 160.

I can vouch for X that he's a pretty knowledgeable fan, more knowledgeable than damn near all the clowns on this forum (not you, whose opinion I actually respect).

Again, we're talking straight up at 168 lbs, a good 2 to 3 divisions above Tommy's best weight (and he was weighing in 6 hours before the fight at 147-154, not 30 hours), and declining by the time he got there.

Kessler is a toal FRAUD, the fact that he was Calzaghes best win should tell you how weak a division Joe had been fighting in.

Hearns is an ATG. Tremendous puncher. Kessler has demonstrated nothing that would indicate he wouldn't have been absolutely punished.

you guys are all pretty eager to fall to your knees for hearns.. no one is denying he was great.. but mostly at welterweight.. 3 divisions south of Kessler.. and Kessler just scrapes in as a supermiddle on weigh in..

    Two things:

    1. If Kessler had kept fighting after the Calzaghe fight then maybe this would be a good question. Since he has pretty much retired and is just doing nothing the question is not relevant, as he has achived so very much less than Hearns.

    2. I'm still going to go with Kessler, but only because Kessler is bigger.

However,as I said - Kessler should not be compared with fighters like Hearns as long as he has not even achieved 5% of hat Hearns has achieved.

Watched his fights....I saw mundine (Rugby player) who had a trilogy with Sam Soliman, Beyer shot to to peices and average fighter, Lucas was so over the hill and **** poor anyway, Andrade is a human punch bag, he gets pissed if you miss his head.

He looked good/decent against average opposition.

Naseem Hamed gets less credit on here and he was a far more credible champion.

Kessler is a GIMMICK, his looks and mild approach to the press mask over is limited ability. Its what u call great marketing.

the dude is 30 and is a very average champion. He has gone the WBA route because there isnt a decent rankd fighter in the WBA top 15, hes complete conman.

I cant beleive how patient fans on this forumn are. The only guy that looks like wanting to be great if Froch.

its called Integrity, something Kessler hasnt got.

You sound like the 80% of ESB members who dont know **** about Kessler and whats going on with his promotor (damn i`m getting tired of writing this) Kessler is close to a trial with his promotor, becourse he want to break lose from his contract.. so he can find a new promotor that can/will help him get those big fights! if his team his is holding him back from fighting the big names, what the hell can he do?! believe me the kid wants to fight the best, and become the best fighter!
At the time he fight Mundine, lucas, beyer, andrade and Calzaghe they were all IN top10 SMW! and he only lost to one of the best 168 fighters ever! and after that his problems with Palle begun!
