Sweet post:smoke, Morrison would have been competitive against champs, Ellis, and Tate, and would have blasted out the much weaker chinny Spink s who didn't even like to train, I think Morrison's size, 6-2 225, 230- and his power would have given some of the smaller contenders, like George Chaplin, Stan Ward, Duane Bobick, nightmares.. I think Morrison would have been a major player but he would have had to get a more capable, knowledgeable corner, and not those clowns he had in the 90"s..
Morrison has near perfect physical attributes for a Heavy weight boxer pre 2000. 6'2 225. Long reach. He was very fast, had enormous power and heart. He is a handful in any era. But, in every era their are craftsman of high level, whom can find Tommies weaknesses and destroy him. I can see fighters like JJW or Charles in the 40's dismantling tommy and knocking him out quickly, Archie Moore would do the same. Tommy is an interesting fighter, in almost any matchup..
Yeah, there were steroids around but nowhere near the amount of P.E.D.'s that came later. Eventually there was HGH and steroids all over the place.
Well, Tommy's jaw was not going to transcend eras, and that--along with what usually seemed to be a lack of stamina (Foreman fight notwithstanding)--is what always cost Tommy. He'd have fought the likes of Shavers, Lyle, Norton, Frazier and Foreman, and the clever Jimmy Young. I don't see him running the table...but that left hook of his would probably have made for some quick work of a couple of them.
