John Tate, prior to the Weaver fight, takes it fairly easily. After the Weaver fight, if Morrison's on his game he wins. At his very best, Tommy Morrison destroys a post-Berbick John Tate.

I haven't watched any post-Berbick Tate fights since they happened, but I recall him looking very ordinary in the fights I saw at the time in his 81-83 run up to his ultimately cancelled shot against Larry Holmes.

While the Weaver and Berbick losses unquestionably hurt Tate, his career and life really seemed to go off the rails following the injury he suffered leading up to his scheduled shot against Holmes. It took Tate nearly three years to get back into the ring, fighting 4- and 6-rounders and coming in very heavy before losing to Noel Quarless and calling it a career in 1988.

Regarding Tate being thrown in to the wolves against Trevor Berbick, prior to the Tate fight Berbick didn't look like anything special. In the 14 months before he took out Tate, he was kayoed in 1 by previous Tate victim Bernardo Mercado. He was held to a draw by veteran opponent Leroy Caldwell. Three months before the Tate fight Berbick won a split decision over 5-13 Johnny Warr. He likely looked like a very safe bet to Tate's team and a good way to get Tate back on the horse. Berbick's career as a contender took off after his knockout of Tate.

 

Berbick is more easy to hit than an acient with the hands in back . and his chin was trash against a big puncher. Proved against tyson,rahman and mercado.morrison would destroy him easily

 

You are overrating Morrison and you're crazy if you think morrison's jaw is better than berbick's

I never mentioned who had better chin.the key is that berbick is not a puncher at all if morrison could survive to ruddock or old foreman who did hit way harder than Berbick then he would not have problems taking shots from berbick however morrison was a huge puncher the cryptonite for Berbick .

Big John Tate developed into a good fighter, he had some solid wins under his belt beating Knoetzee & Coetzee and was dominating Mike Weaver until the last round when he got caught on the ropes. The Weaver fight (serious KO loss) in the last round ruined Big Johns confidence & did something to his health, Big John was never the same, I think he vomited against Berbick. A pre Weaver Tate should dominate Morrison

You never liked Trevor but it has good victories like against PRIME Page, Bey,Tate, PRIME Pinklon and Green.
A better summary than Morrison,he was knocked out in 2 of 11 losses.
