I don't think this thread was ever created. Two guys who both held the WBO heavyweight belt.
Does Morrison stop Damiani or does Damiani outbox Morrison to a late stoppage or decision?

Good thread .FD could win this on points ,he was doing a job on mercer till caught. But Morrison could easily also do the same behind on points. I'll go with Damiani in a shock win by decision .

Morrison was far more explosive and looked the part. On the other hand Damiani is a very underrated boxer who was tough and had a good all round skillset. I think that Damiani might weather the early storm and outwork and outbox Morrison for a points win.

I've posted a lot of Morrison highlights on the Max Baer thread, so here are a few of Damiani's:

The Canelloni Man would outclass Morrison...and win every minute of every round...right up to the moment when a left hook lays Damiani out as cold as an Italian ice. If Tim Timoshek was at ringside he'd have said "Jeepers"...

Tough call .. Damiani was the more "robust" guy .. LOL ..

That aside I feel if focused Damiani was a much better fighter and would win and possibly stop Tommy.

No, Damiani would just win every minute of the fight. If you think Tommy Morrison was capable of knocking a decent fighter out late in a fight, you're a halfwit at best.

Damiani was certainly underrated, but he came along whilst Tyson was at his very best ,so he was over looked. He may have given Tyson of 89 a few tricky round s ,Tyson s head was starting to go in this period. A fight between the two may have resembled Tyson v Botha ,with Mike struggling till he gets his range. If he'd have beaten mercer maybe that would have come about .

Diminai did not look the part, but he was a good boxer. The reason he lost to Mercer was he gassed a bit.

Fans who have not seen Morrison in a while underestimate his speed. I'll take Damiani on points, all he would have to do is get past round 6, which may or may not be easy.

After the "No" in your name, you spelled "Brain" wrong.

Another vote For Damiani. Tommy gasses a little to late for me to be convinced he'd have the late power to ko the guy. And he's not like Joe Hipp who was right in front of him the whole time, he'll have to chase Damiani down.

I don't think he does and drops a lopsided decision to Damiani in a distance fight.

Like Morrison - Damiani probably would have achieved a lot more had he been more dedicated. As for the fight... Yeah lean towards him winning a decision or late stoppage.

Everyone forgetting that Damiani himself wasn't a poor puncher? He has a chance for the stoppage himself, especially on a weary Morrison in the middle rounds.

We could see that for sure, Morrison trying to blast out Damiani but ending up gassing.
