Is there any possibility of a double KO and both confirming their retirements in the ring afterwards? Bellew has been unbearable since he managed to beat the 1 legged Haye and although I don’t mind Haye, he is just a liability with his broken down body - let’s get rid of both.
Anyone heard the latest IFL interview with Bellew? Essentially downplaying the injury and claiming it wasn’t a one legged man he was in with I give Bellew some credit, he’s proved people wrong and shown he’s a better fighter than people think time and time again, he’s achieved more than 99% of fighters...but he is delusional and also seems to think that because he survived until the Achilles snapped it proves he was going to win the fight...but I guess as a pro you have to be a bit delusional otherwise you’d go into fights defeated before the first bell...it is annoying to listen to though...
I haven’t seen the interview but basically Haye threw everything he had at him and very frantically and erratically too and Bellew survived. Before the fight I thought Haye in 3/4 rounds. Looking back now I think even without the injury Bellew May have nicked it just because of how much energy Haye had used in the beginning to no avail.
AS I'm not Haye i have no idea why he chose the footwear he did. He fought Chisora in trainers maybe he just prefers low profile footwear. He was limping on the way to the ring. He went to Germany before the fight to get checked over. He wasn't 100% its fairly obvious. That's why his timing was so far out. I doubt he ever will be in the ring again fully fit. The extra weight and muscle on his frame and age caught up with him. Bellew boxed well and pounced when he had the chance
Haye is a lot of things. But I don’t class him in the complete idiot category. Going into the ring with a pre existing ankle/Achilles injury with trainers on and no strapping would make him a complete and utter spaz. He isn’t that stupid.
He underestimated Bellew. Haye was legit world class heavy arguably the best in the division at the time (others had claims), Bellew is an over achiever. Haye thought one good dig and that was it against a guy who's not as good as me and that's it and I can get a nice big pay day from Joshua. The evidence is there from multiple sources - It was wildly reported he went to Germany to get his leg checked. I watched the fight thinking he was just taking his time to ring like he did vs Enzo but when you watch it again it's clear he can't walk properly. His timing wasn't there from the opening bell. This is a guy who's body isnt with him. He was off from minute 1 something was a miss, strained, torn or whatever then it disintegrated as the fight wore on. If it looks like a duck, talks like a duck.....
