How are today's fighters better conditioned? I don't see any of them going 15 rounds. The only footage I've seen of a modern fighter going 15 rounds was during training camp, where Floyd went 15 with Baldomir. At the end he was laid out on the ground vomiting. How are you going to say that fighters like Armstrong and Marciano, both of whom fought the full 3 minutes of every round for the full 15, were not at least as well conditioned?
Mariziano actually was the first fighter to have a conditioning regiment that he adopted from his army days. Prior to that fighters fought every week to stay in shape.
I wouldn't say that the "color line" was as much of an issue in the lighter weight classes. Canzoneri had some great fights with Kid Chocolate.

Ok yeah right buddyatsch How come Cassanova,Azteca, or Kid COlima never got title shots? These Mexicanos were putting an ass beatin on international competition whenever they got the chance, but yet they were never considered for a shot. Just like they have the Black Murdereers row, it hink these Mexicanos shoud have good slogan. Baby Arizmendi couldnt be denied after he beat Armstrong. Believe this if LAtinos were let loose back then there would be more Mexican champs from the past.
Kid Azteca lost a lot more times to top competition than he won. He lost badly to Bep Van Klaveren (who never got a shot), Ceferino Garcia when it mattered, Fritzie Zivic, California Jackie Wilson. Casanova fought Escobar for a version of the title and got knocked out. He had a good, but short run. He beat Miller in a non-title bout but so did Quarles. It didn't guarantee you a title shot. Arizmendi was already the champ before beating a young, then unheralded Armstrong. Juan Zurita also held the lightweight title.
Yey but bottom line Azteca beat lot of these guys and was never considered. No offense but I get the feeling that you're the one acting like an "authority" here. I have no problem with people disagreeing with me, all I'm doing is proving my point. I wouldn't say that Azteca was being avoided, certainly not because of him being a Mexican. He just lost when it mattered most. He was on his best run but ended up getting upset by Klaveren who as I said never got a title shot either. He beat young Garcia, but when Garcia was a ranked contender Azteca was KO'd by him. Miller should have fought Casanova but it wasn't the only non-title bout he lost. He lost a non-title bout to Johnny Pena, a Portuguese fighter, and gave him a title shot in return. He also lost to Quarles, but never gave him a shot nor Casanova. The point is, I don't think there was a "color line" in place, atleast not against Mexicans. Arizmendi got numerous title shots. A lot of fighters were unfortunate not to, and that includes fighters from every nationality. They were tough times and there weren't 80 different world titles like there are now.
