It still needs to come from a special puncher who can really punch. Also I think Galentos hook was def not on par with Fraizer, but probably Tuas. Galento threw a lot of different types of hooks against Louis. The short one that knocked him down, the wide ones that lifted him up a few times. In terms of speed, at one point in the fight Galento throws 3 lighting fast hooks, I'll find the clip.
Honest question. When's the last time anyone here other than Reznick (or maybe DW?) ever said anything good about you or your posts? You're just a crotchety, obtuse, ignorant waste of space. Done replying to you.
Perrys the kinda guy that makes me want to post here. Youre the kinda guy that makes me not want to post here.
What do you mean exactly by ,"not on a par"? Tua hit harder than either Frazier or Galento, Frazier could fire the hook and instantly reload,[he may have been slightly quicker of hand than Tua,]Galento could not, and his poor footwork meant he had to catch you coming in or plod into range to deliver it. Plenty of guys went the distance with Galento without tasting canvas and some of them were pretty nondescript.Eddie Mader 185lbs fought him twice ,drawing with and beating him and he was stopped 31 times!Tua's ko record is 73% he blew guys away ,Frazier ground them down.
These are telegraphed arm punches with no body weight behind them, horrible execution really, for comparison watch someone like Dempsey throw the hook, the shifting of the weight, the dipping shoulder ,the power coming up from the hips, the shortness of the trajectory. What we have on this clip is the old adage,"the wonder is not that he did it well ,but that he could do it at all". Quick succession? Here is David Tua ,a month of off 38 years old compare the hand speed. And also note the right hands he is throwing. Galento never exhibited that speed ,or those combinations in his life! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0IweZbGWpMc
Oh my. I sincerely hope that you take Mcvey's reply to heart. This is not good or impressive punching and I'm astonished that you offered this as an example of something exemplary. When it comes to punching, this man is not on David Tua's level.
Do you realize that you can stand straight up, not move any part of your body except for your arm and shoulder, and throw a power punch using the shoulder snap? Also, people don't have to punch with a certain form youre familiar with to throw a power punch. There are many different, awkward positions from where you can utilize your weight to throw a power punch. Further, you do realize that Galento got jabbed during that first hook right? Also, Tonys punches might not look dangerous. But didn't his punches on Louis also not look that dangerous until you actually saw the impact of the collision? His punches look like flying pillows until it lands on Louis and his feet shoot upwards. You have to know how to watch old footage to determine things like power in a punch. I don't see Tua throwing multiple hooks faster than Galento. The knockout is dope, and the punches were great for the KO.
You think Tua had a better hook than Frazier? That's a pretty bold statement. I think there are times where Tua seems to throw his with more power, but Frazier had way more dynamic range with his hook. It was way faster, and he had way more control of it. I mean Frazier had what? 10-15 knockouts we don't have on film? And Tua has every one of his knockouts on film? That's important to note.
