You asked a question,I answered it.

Galento had more fights and retired nearer to his prime than Tua did .
Galento beat 24 men who had losing records.
    Tua 10.
Was Tua ever beaten by a journeyman ?
    Galento was ,multiple times.
Tua was beaten by 3 world class opponents ,and 2 fringe contenders when he was in his 40's .

Yes, you did. I appreciate that. 6 times he was stopped.

You also added that he retired at 34, and that Tua retired at 41. I was pointing out his had more fights though, in response to that.

They had vastly different careers, that's true. They fought in very different eras.

Record stats don't always tell the whole story. I'd rate Fritzie Zivic highly despite his 60 losses, for example.

I look at this fight and I think.
Could Galento outbox Tua to take a decision? The answer I get is no.
Could he stop him ? No.
Could Tua outbox Galento ? Yes.
Could he stop him ? By tko on cuts yes.
Who has the better record? Tua.
Who is the more skilled? Tua.
    Who hits harder? Tua.
    Who has the better chin?Tua.
    Who is faster?Tua.
Who has the better footwork? Tua.
Who has the better defence? Tua.
Who has the better two fisted power? Tua.
Therefore who wins the fight? Tua.

I look at this fight and see two squat hard-punching granite-head sluggers. It would be a good fight.

It would be one of Tua's easier fights.

Do you disagree with any of Mcvey's specific comparisons?

I haven't seen enough of Galento to conduct a thorough ana1ysis or done a deep study of Tua either. I doubt i will. There's hardly any film of Galento anyway. He had 80 wins and how many of those have you seen?

Both of them were lacking in boxing skill, and it seems they got by on huge power, granite chin and fighting as a low target.

What makes you say Tua was "lacking in skill"?

I saw him clearly outboxed in several fights by men I wouldn't consider masters. He often bailed himself out with a late KO, and on other occassions he lost.

His main problem was that he had a tendency to shut down his offense against big men who could stick and move. Sound fundamentals, very good balance, great combinations, decent head movement, etc. though. Light years beyond Galento, skill and technique wise though, from what I've seen and read.

Being out boxed by Byrd is no disgrace imo
He was being outboxed by Oquendo, but eventually got the job done.
Like wise Izon. Both were good boxers.
    Ibeabuchi was a beast.
    Lewis is an ATG.
Galento was beaten by 2 lightheavyweights in Rosenbloom and Gainer ,who tko'd him.
What's worse Galento being beaten by them ,or Tua losing to Bryd?
Tua lost 5 times ,but was never beaten by a journeyman.

It would be a short one imo.

I'd like to see a fight of this skillfully diverse master boxer/puncher. All I find when I look up Tua is some one dimensional brawler.

Tua actually had very good skills. I don't get this perception of him as a skilless slugger. Just because one'style doesn't mimic Ali, does not make them bereft of skill.

Well, Galento fought UGLY, Tua fought more correct. Sometimes ugly beats correct.

Galento actually reminds me a bit of Marciano. Punches coming from unexpected angles, and a dirty fighter too.

I think Galento was a lot more cagey than people make out. He knew how to close the gap and fought out of an awkward crouch when he was on form. His trainers complained about him abandoning that when he got excited in the Lous fight. They thought he should have stayed in the crouch waiting on another chance to hurt Louis, instead of standing straight and trying to land a haymaker that way. They were probably right. Galento for his part blamed his trainers for inhibiting his natural tendency to moider da bum outright.
