According to Boxrec, Tony Jeffries will be facing Michael Banbula (10-25-3) next time out on the July card in Sunderland. This should be a good test for Jeffries, and don't let Banbula's record deceive you - he has won his last 3 fights, the most recent a points victory over Tony Oakey, and his two losses before the wins were debatable decisions against decent opposition.
Nice to see him get stepped up. Hopefully fighting men who stand up will iron a few of his bad habits out. I like Jeffries, out of all the Olympians* he's the one I want to see do the best :good He is one of those boxers you would love to share a pint with. (* I don't rate Gavin as an Olympian although he's always classed as one of that crowd)
Decent match. There's nothing wrong with how Jeffries is being brought on. Matches against Solomko and King are good matches and this is another one. Would like to see it over 8 rather than 6 though cos that's a bigger test for him and would mean he'd be able to fight for titles. Maloney gets a bit of criticism for some of his matches but I think he's doing a good job with Jaffa.
I do think Tony has picked up some bad habits which need ironing out,for one he just doesn't seem to have any inside game. He's also started to neglect that very good jab he has by just trying to blast people out.
Only 25 Jeffries I like what I see of him and fighting back home again the numbers should be good if he keeps going the way he has been he will be not too far away from fighting for a domestic title early next year.
