I don't think i'd even know where to begin. No i'm bowing out of the thread just far too many names from armstrong to tyson. No i'm giving up.
He's not really 'the best' but chilling stoppages from feather to light welter (Costello was a 140lber even if the bout was over the weight, IIRC) see him score very highly on a P4P list. I'd say he's one of the elite featherweight punchers though. Bigger than Saddler, Wright, Danny Lopez? That's the question. Of those, (haven't seen Chalky stopping anyone mind) I'd say Little Red was the freakiest; clipped people and wasted them.
LESTER No!!!! Neither Khaosai nor Pichit are up there among the P4P hardest hitters before you come in here with crys of Kalulesai :bart Muangsurin? That I'd entertain :yep

I know you know that Zamora hit harder than Olivares. Don't follow the trends, Flea - put Pat Barret instead of Louis. I know you want to.
Zamora may well have done but he struggled to dent Lujan's iron beard. Olivares flattened Rudkin inside two rounds. So Zamora, even when applying himself to his maximum, could not starch a titanium beard like Ruben could. Pure power? It's very close I imagine. Zamora was a monster.
Past-prime and shell shocked by Zarate. Absolute prime. The second best performance of Olivares's career by all accounts. Admit it, Zamora's KO of Pedroza looked more impressive than any of Olivares' stoppages.:deal
Pedroza got up! :deal Rose>>>Pedroza Yes Zamora was past his absolute best but I think that made him put on a complete performance rather than just try to steamroll his man. He hit Lujan with the kitchen sink and basically gave up when he realised he couldn't hurt him. Olivares punched to feather as well, which Zamora didn't do, the midget :hey
How does everyone feel about foster? Devastating at 175 but he couldn't really hurt heavyweights. Also, sometimes I think we too often look at these things in isolation when in reality they are weighted geometrically. Its much more difficult to say someone punched harder, than punched better. For example, I think most people who have studied the issue would say Edwin Rosario hit harder, with one shot, than did Roberto Duran. Yet I can't see Rosario, even with an extra 20 lbs dropping Iran Barkeley or hurting Ray Leonard our keeping Hagler off him. Its possible that Buddy Baer, who was 4" taller and about 50 lbs heavier hit much harder in absolute terms than did Joe Louis. Its also possible that Louis confluence of skills, his hand speed, his accuracy, his balance in short his near perfect mechanics meant that he was punching harder despite the enormous size difference. I'm not sure if that made sense but its just something I've been mulling over. Also i'm a big fan of Stanley Ketchel.
