Did you see his fight with Barros? I heard it was more a case of Barros trying to survive, believe this Gamboa is definitely a future star.

As for Cotto well, then where do you think Margarito belongs?

Valero looked real impressive to me last time out, and if Marquez doesnt go back down id rate Valero as the number 1 guy there. I dont see the problem in rating Valero high.

yeah i also agree that gamboa is a future hof'er but to place him no. 3 on that list based on the fighters he's beaten is not right imo

again, valero is the same as gamboa. bags of potential, but hasn't achieved enough YET to be rated that high

margarito belongs in a correctional facility in my opinion, but putting that aside and even pretending he's not a cheat he doesn't necessarily have to be higher than cotto. (margarito lost to mosely, who cotto beat, so it's difficult to judge). i would put them both above gamboa and valero because of the opposition they've fought. cotto beat shane mosley ffs, who has gamboa beaten?

also, no rigondeaux? surely an oversight?

You talk about rating Gamboa and Valero so high but yet, you wonder why Rigoundeaux aint there:huh He hasnt fought anything close to even a journeyman. Valero hasnt beaten a couple decent guys and a top contender in impressive fashion in his last fight. Would you rate Rigoundeaux over former champ Juan Diaz? Rigoundeaux will be there soon enough though maybe i should have put him on honarable mention just based on Ability, but there are also some other guys i left off that are deserving too Fly champ Navarez,JL alphabet champ Roman Martinez, Andrade,Arreola,Mike Alvarado just to name a few.

Dont think im underestimating Rigoundeaux he looked impressive in his last fight knocking out his last opponent with a body shot.

Do you really think Lara deserves too by that high yet? Even the guys at the bottom are estabalished top contenders in their weight class. Lara will be their soon, he is a rising star and will be ranked high in the near future but a win over Grady Brewer doesnt qualify him yet.

    R. Marquez, Quintana should be lower. Cotto, Collazo should be higher.

cotto and lopez are too low, also with the case of soto now. in fact cotto has a good argument to be placed at #2, imho.

I'm tired of these jokers not taking Pong-man seriously! Okay, before I say anything about your list, what are we going by here? I mean are we talking accomplishments, or how viable they are right now at their own weight class?

A combination of HTH,resume, and ranking in their division.

Some of the posters convinced me that i ranked Cotto a little low but i have to put Margarito above him,so maybe thats why he is not so high i can see either of them being ranked from 3-9.

Well, if it's a combination of those things then it's so subjective I couldn't even argue anything. Like Sergio, this guy is a great athlete who H2H I'd say could go in with any top 154 guy and most of 160, but his resume is not good. It's way less than say Cotto who is so many places from him. But Martinez is in great shape and Cotto could conceivably prove FUBAR'd in his next fight. Am I rambling without saying anything? I can never tell.

Personally I would take Vasquez off the list as the guy should retire he has taken too many punches...

Cotto should be 13th... He never convinced me that he was for real. He was overrated and at best just barely good. He had talent but his uncle never trained him properly so we will never know how good he was supposed to be.

Margarito... I really don't think he deserves to be on the list as he has not fought for more than a year.

Take off Juan Diaz as well

I also think Edison Miranda should be on the list at 20th

You rank Cotto too high and Librado Andrade should be an Honorable Mention.
