:good Whitaker wouldn't have dropped many rounds at all. He would have shut out Castillo too much like he did with Ramirez in the second fight. The version of Sweet Pea who bested an excellent champion in Vasquez would have beaten De La Hoya at 154.

I have Whitaker ranked 14th all time.

It boggles my mind when people list Pernell as 'boring'.

The man had more slick moves and combinations/counter punching that most other fighters that I've seen and sometimes, such as against McGirt, he'd actually be the one pressing the fight and would be willing to take some punches to land some punches.

He was nothing like Floyd, Floyd against Baldomir and DLH was pitifully boring, save for several combinations and slick defensive manuvers here and there.

I don't think any Whitaker fight ever bored me, he was always entertaining and something that most people wouldn't think of -

Pernell Whitaker is what got me into boxing.:D

If a slick, boxing genius is what got you into boxing, it's no wonder you appreciate the guys like Calzaghe, Guzman, and Mijares today while many label them as runners or boring fighters.

Yes, but I also was a fan of Tyson from the outside of course, who isn't?:yep

Never liked C level brawlers beating their heads in, I am thrilled by skill and triumph, but a good skillful war is the best type of fight. A skillful guy who isn't afraid to take a shot and get in the trenches is probably the best kind of fighter for boxing.

I do find Floyd's fights against DLH and Baldomir to be just boring as **** though, skillful, but way too conservative when he has the ability to produce so much more thrilling manuvers and combinations and just more entertainment.

Whitaker clowning Ramirez and slipping all of those shots is an ego trip, but that was SOOO entertaining, because it's just a 1 in a million type of guy showing off ability that can be translated into an artistic view even.

Same thing with Mijares working his work from the outside and timing absurd 3 and 4 shot combinations that land perfectly accurate, that's just amazing works of art within combat and it doesn't get any better for a boxing purist fan.
