Truth is, Margarito had signed to fight Gomez about 7 months prior, which was an undercard fight on the Vitali - Rahman PPV that got cancelled. Arum wanted to put it on TV, but no dates were available. So he made a regional PPV to get his guy in the ring after almost a year.

Arum was the promoter for both guys. He offered Mayweather CAREER HIGH money. That's not the same as just calling out.

Nope. Mayweather did no such thing. Because Floyd JUST moved up to 147 and targeted Sharmba Mitchell and then Zab while Margarito was defending his belt against Cintron and Clottey. There was no speak of Margarito vs. MAyweather till later. If you were half as smart as you think you are, you would probably know that. And predicting that Margarito would beat Cotto was a 50-50 call. You said if the bout was fought at a distance, Cotto would win. Well the bout was fought at a distance and Cotto lost because he has never fought off his back foot. Thats also what I said would happen if he didnt make it an inside fight.
