There is not exactly a lot of footage of Langford either.

As you suggest, Robinson (rightly) is not going down anytime soon. He is just about in the era of acceptable quality film, and he did look rather good on it, even when he got a bit older. Add that to his paper stats and that is why he has been at the top for last, certainly, fifty years...

I think maybe a Mayweather Jr might in my lifetime (i am 46) get into the debate over the #1 spot, but I too am sure that no one older than Robinson will ever gain a consensus to top him among those who know the sport.

Langford was very amateurish and had a poor technique. I have recorded a sparing session of him. He had no defence at all.

Thanks again to the 24 who participated, and also to those who've followed along.

I for one loved doing this. It was tremendous fun. I definitely would like to do 1-2 surveys a year going forward (not exactly like that one of course - 2030 for that, if I'm still around and able).

I will still try and do one final episode on this with some thoughts about the more popular reactions to each, just not sure when that will happen. It may be a ways off.

It was a challenge and an honor to participate.

I’m not sure that there’s a better ‘historical society’ for boxing than the one that exists on this forum.

also, does anyone have a link to the thread where people posted their individual rankings? I would be curious to see how each poster voted.

Sorry everyone! Had a busy few weeks and was away for the last week. Had forgotten to move it back before then.

Just moved it now. Link is here (and I will add it into the first post here as well).

McVey beat me to it, but thank you Rummy for doing such a great job. I must confess that I loved participating because I learned so much and it took me out of my comfort zone. Cheers.
