Top 5 best Fury performances?

People might laugh here but he impressed me when defeating Martin Rogan all those years ago boxing southpaw.

1. Wlad
2. Wilder 2

Not sure how to rank the rest. Usyk fights might both be in there in fairness.

 

If Wilder retired after the trilogy you could hold Fury’s resume a tad higher but he has fought on and not won a round in 17.

Fury was over rated

 

This is pretty much how I see it

 

It was a performance where he showed a lot of heart and determination, sure, but my point is there are countless Fury performances which on a technical level were far superior to Wilder III.

Wilder 2 - most destructive

Hammer - most complete performance

Chisora 2 - most dominant

Kingpin - best condition he was ever in

 

We'll put to one side his nandralone abuse that would potentially disqualify Hammer and Klitschko results (because let's be honest a lot of heavyweights aren't all naturale).

1. Wlad Klitschko - yes, Wlad had looked there for the taking in his previous fight, but Fury did such a number on him, its churlish to deny it wasn't impressive even at Klitschko's advanced age.
2. Chisora 2 - Peak Fury. I'm tempted to put it as his best performance actually.
3. Hammer - Similar outcome to Chisora 2 in what was the final eliminator for Wlad. Hammer wasn't the jobber he is today.
4. Wilder 2 - Dominant performance against an older Wilder after a shocking one against the younger Wallin
5. Wilder 1 - seeing a guy come from 400lbs, jumping from top 200 opponents to a top 10 guy in Wilder and giving him a boxing lesson was impressive. He deserved the win.

quick note:
NO ONE was avoiding Wilder, ever. EVERYONE wanted to fight him. The PBC/WBC just made that impossible.
Fury being a cherry pick gone wrong was hilarious. The best part was the face on Sulaimán at the end of Fury 2---He had just paraded Wilder in front of the Pope, ffs

 

Let’s face it without Turki paying Fury 150+ million he would never have fought Usyk, he knew it was a huge risk.

 

Fury being robbed of the wlad win tbh.

Fury made wlad look worse than he actually was that night...mostly because the europeans dont tend to throw unless their pretty sure of it landing a lot more than say the brits. Wlad spent a career throwing because he knew he would land it till he came up against fury.

Furys movement, iq etc caused wlad a lot more problems than his age did. He,d have went on dominating for the next few years beating guys without too much sweat before joshua got him out of their if their was no fury.

Joshuas win was a lot more down to wlads age than furys was. Only really because joshuas athletism would always be tricky for most ageing fighters hence why he fought a lot of them.

 

I just actually watched this second Usyk fight. He won that fight. Maybe his best performance. Or second best performance. What the hell.

Not ranking Schwarz because he is a bum, Uysk 1 or 2 because they were losses and I don't think in the spirit, Chisora 1, 2, or 3 because he has Del Boy's number, Hammer of McDermott because, whereas I would not call them bums, they aren't that talented. Cunningham would be the other guy to consider, and a guy of Fury's size ought to have beaten him more easily.

 

Wlad. Mainly due to circumstances, mental pressure. It turned out to be a comfortable win but every single person thought he was getting KO'd, so it would be have been a massive thing to overcome. And at the time everyone was expecting Wlad to land eventually and even Wlad thought that Fury would slow down and he'd nail him.

Wilder I. Probably his best performance since he boxed very well, had amazing defence and landed some nice shots too, more than against Wlad. Bad mistake in the final round tainted it, but that was partly Roach's fault for telling him he was the puncher and to go after Wilder instead of just boxing. Sugar Hill carried on that legacy of getting Fury KD'd by massive punchers while telling him he was actually the puncher in there.

Wilder II. Mainly because it took mental toughness to go back after almost being KO'd. But I think he was a bit lucky in that fight he landed the ear shot and Wilder was all over the place from early on. Taking 7 rounds to get a corner stoppage after becoming a come forward 'Kronk KO artist' is actually pretty underwhelming.

Usyk I. Actually dominated Usyk for a stretch which nobody else has done.

Cunningham. Fury showed a lot of stuff there, he was boxing well against a fast cruiser, then got up from the KD and bulldozed him, all without a trainer.
