I agree, I'm hesitant of putting Fitz myself, hard to form opinions based on the little with have. Speaking of which; Lytell isn't mentioned enough here for my likings. The guys crazy underrated. And yeahhhhh I ain't a Jones guy, but it'd be foolish to not mention him.
Tiger Lamotta Zale Jones Walker Make my top ten Giardello is probably just outside it.I'm not impressed with Hopkins his resume against quality is very thin imo. He would have his work cut out with Giardello ,imo
Yeah but Griffith was really a Welterweight. I don't think he has much of chance at beating most top MWs ever, certainly not guys like Greb, Robinson or Hagler. And what about Cerdan? Surely LaMotta is worthy of a higher placement.
Walker and Zale are elite MWs, but I doubt I'd favour either at the highest level. Hopkins tends to be polarising, and this thread isn't specifically about him, so I'll just simply disagree there, although Giardello ain't an easy night for anyone. Hopkins included.
Griffith's wins over,Briscoe,Guttierrez,Bogs,Harris,Archer, Heilman,Hayward,Benvenuti.Mean he has to be taken seriously for a place in the top ten imo.But not top 5. His old rival Rodriguez has a damn good middleweight resume too. Cerdan is possibly a little overated was he even the best fighter among the the crew which included; Dauthille Villemain Langlois Humez Delanoitt
I'm not saying either are bad by any stretch, but do you see them beating a Greb, Hopkins, Hagler or Jones? I don't.
Ketchel with 2 runner-ups- I know Ketchel gets flack but always admired Stanley - tough and mean- He may have tricked Johnson but still snuck that right hand bomb to drop Big Jack
Ketchel is an absolute animal, I don't think he's on that level, but it's not inarguable. The guys tailer made for the Tiger, Cerdan, LaMotta type imo. He falls short of a top placement simply because I don't think he'd beat a Greb, a Robinson or Hagler ect.
