John Fury is the only man who can train the only man Tommy Fury who can beat the Paulo Brothers who are undefeated and almost unstoppable. Do not laugh.
I can be barely be bothered with women's boxing but it's obvious Ali is not in the discussion for GWOAT. It's far from clear that she was the best of her day, let alone ever. Shields, someone who fights in the same class as Ali, is clearly more credentialed. Even if Ali was the greatest ever, what merit does that have in comparison to training a male champion, where the divisions are far deeper and the skill level far higher? Also, if Floyd Mayweather Sr. did most of the groundwork with his son, not only by building the technical foundation but also by giving him the genetic one, why would Roger deserve more credit? As someone who watched nearly all of Mayweather's fights, I'm still unsure of how much impact Roger had, given Mayweather was such a phenom. Freddie Roach, on the other hand, clearly had a serious impact on the raw Filipino he inherited and was chosen as a heir apparent to Eddie Futch.
Floyd Snr, Roger Mayweather and Jeff Mayweather share the same genetics so that dilutes your point. Genetics don’t make a fighter it’s application. What Roger added to Floyd was offensive capability which made Floyd a destructive combination puncher at the lower weights and turned him into a superstar. Roger Mayweather forgot more about boxing than most trainers knew. So what Roach was a pupil of Eddie Futch and as great as Futch was Roach clearly inherited some of Futch’s weakness which was defence where the Mayweather’s the Michigan grand masters of defence excelled. Yes Roach improved Pacquiao no doubt but his weaknesses still remained also which the likes of Floyd and Marquez amongst others exposed. Both father and uncle deserve great credit. We have seen phenomenal talents before but when they lose somethings like athleticism, speed etc due to age you see what happens e.g.RoyJones Junior however Floyd’s fundamentals remain intact even when he was older because of the work of Uncle and Father. If you askFloyd he will tell Dad andUncle Jeff is better at defence and Uncle Roger was best at offence but they are great all round.
I Must agree my picks are... Emanuel Steward & Kronk Freddie Roach. The way that man works his fighters despite his illness is incredible Papa Chenko Both the Mayweathers & Reynosos have too many dark clouds affecting the Proven peds abuse with fighters Floyd = IV gate etc Canelo's proven Peds abuse & both their well documented Vegas, NSAC connections
He trained Usyk for nearly a decade. Brought him up and to a gold medal, through the WSB, etc. LOMUS are basically family. Usyk brought him back for the biggest pro fights of his career as well (Gassiev, Joshua).
no. papachenko also trained usyk and gvozdyk. usyk quite often tells that if not for papachenko he wouldn't be where he is.
Roach trained James Toney. He also turned the lazy Chavez Jr. into a world champion. That alone puts Roach into the top 3.
Roach did not make Toney at all it was Bill Millar another of the grand masters of Michigan from the Mid West USA.
Papachenko trained the current P4P #2 (should be #1) and the former #1 (would still be #1 if he had the current #1's judges) both of whom are ranked in the current P4P top 10 (no other trainer in the sport today can boast this) and Papachenko's son is a boxing genius, by far the most skilled fighter in the game, and both he and his father have managed to create a new and unique style after all these years and Usyk isn't too far behind in that regard. Papachenko also trained the great Ukrainian national team that featured Gvozdyk, Derevyanchenko, Denys Berinchyk, and obviously Usyk and Loma. “Lomachenko’s father made this team,” said Oleksandr Gvozdyk, another Ukraine medallist at London 2012. “He created it. He’s just too humble to say it. But it’s true. “Ask Usyk. It’s not only about boxing. He’s a psychologist, a leader. He says something and you believe in it. Because everything he tells you, it works.” This content is protected
