Floyd is a more active and more accurate puncher and he punches out of his defensive postures more effectively.

Based on the first McGirt fight alone I pick Floyd comfortably.

I think he'd to start to have great success timing the right hand sometime around the middle rounds. He's one of the few guys that I think could possibly get the better of Whitaker when they're sort of fencing at range.

    He'd still lose though.

This would have been an awesome fight.

Keep in mind that when FMJ faces southpaws his typical defense goes out the window and he reverts to a high guard.

This type of defense would have played right into Sweet Peas strengths.

Both lack power so I would say Pea by UD in a clear but competitive bout that may have warranted a rematch or series.

    He would have beat him.

Pernell got taken to the brink and knocked down twice by a C level fighter in Hurtado.

Floyd had great power at 135.

Would be a great fight...I'm taking Sweet Pea but Floyd has a chance for a SD.

NO ONE in Floyd's resume even comes close to what Whitaker faced. A prime Oscar and Tito and close to his prime Chavez. No disrespect, but what Floyd did with Gatti or Chico wouldn't mean ****. You can't seriously compare Gatti and Chico to Oscar, Tito, and especially Chavez! And if Floyd was in his prime sparring a prime Whitaker he'd get credit, but this being a 17 yr old you know Whitaker was going easy on him. Goes for Judah too. Floyd would get busted up by a prime Oscar he could barely handle an old one.

    Didn't Whitaker lose to Roger?

Didn't Floyd school Pea at 17 in sparring?

He knocked Hurtado out. He was taken to the brink and arguably lost the first Wilfredo Rivera fight nine months before that. He was knee deep into drugs and alcohol.

all that matters is that Sweet Pea fought in an era before this one therefore he wins because it's not hip, cool, or trendy to pick an active fighter in these mythical matchups.

whitaker ranks much higher ATG but head to head I pick Mayweather because he's just a bigger stronger dude and a better/more dangerous offensive fighter than pea. Mayweather by close UD but Pernell is greater....style thing
