Walker threw over 100 punches in rd 1. Walker really has some good skills. fast hands, good combination punching AND a good jab. He has good movement too. However, he fights like a wreckless slugger with shabby defense. If he had a proper trainer and paced himself he could have been a real contender. You cant leave yourself open like that against a slugger.
WTF are you talking about? Walker is a tough guy who only had one stoppage before this fight... and it was a terrible terrible Stoppage.. I suggest you actually watch some boxing before posting on these forums.. The simple fact is,, Arreola is 26-0 with 23 Knockouts THats a 90% knockout rating... I think you're just another hater and can't recognize that Arreola can ****ing pack a punch.. He is very overweight and slow... but he can ****ing punch
Agreed. Aerrola looked flat feeted, and slow, too much donuts. If he (Walker) would of stayed out side and used his jab as his corner kept telling him to do, he chances would of been much better. The last time somebody who had a week chin, and tried to trade with a heavy handed puncher was guy by the name of Wladmir Klitschko facing Cory Sanders, and it was the same result.
Even Wlad vs Peter Wlad stayed outside, jabbed, and then tied up when sam clobbered him. Travis Walker needs some defense. Its like the NFL..Defense wins titles.
If Walker had a glass jaw he would've gone down sooner. Arreola despite being overweight, still had the experience and superior skill to win. He can' depend on this against the elite though.
Clearly there are many boxing fans who still do not recognize the central importance of punch resistance in boxing. For the most part, if you don't take a good punch, you aren't going too far. Walker clearly does not take a good punch.
There is a difference between recognizing the central importance of punch resistance and thinking that everyone who falls has a glass jaw.
I'd say his punch resistiance is shaky at best. The first intial wobble wasn't from a huge shot, and he was all downhill from there. Not glass, but bad. Arreola has a good jaw, he took some pretty damn impressive shots and kept coming, the KD was more a shock from taking a combo then from being hurt. It was like, oh ****.. wasn't expecting that kind of KD. He never looked "hurt" though.. but Walker looked hurt after the first semi-decent shot that landed.
