Maybe, but Bute isn't in the competition. Every original in the competition has fought away from home...I don't believe PH|LLA can say, "No way Ward should fight in Germany. No ****ing way."...and not sound biased. He wasn't the champ before the Kessler bout, yet he still got his bouts at home. Just because he has the belt now doesn't mean he shouldn't have to travel...it's a tournament with one boxer having home advantage, and one travelling...it's not fair otherwise.
The original agreement between the promotors was that semi's and the final was to be staged in fatyankeestan. I think it was a demand by showtime the major sponsor of the supersix. So this does not mean Oakland neccesarily. Yes because Ward won the Dirrell fight by forfeit and awarded 2 points.
I know. I don't know how anyone can insult Froch or Kessler. I mean, thank god for these men. If we didn't have fighters like this in the Middleweight divisions, we would be **** out of luck and jolly well ****ed. For some reason, Middleweights thrive on staying in their zones. Joe Calzaghe, Roy Jones, Kelly Pavlik, Lucian Bute, Andre Ward, they just refuse to move.
:good Oh right. Even then though, neither Dirrell or Ward wanted that bout...neither had started training camps or nothing, I can't remember how many weeks out it was, but it was very clear this bout was not happening. Dirrell didn't want to face his 'good friend', and vise versa.
When Bute signed with Showtime, they said he will probably make the big fight (Bute vs S6 winner) in NY and both Bute and Ibox agreed with that, will Ward?
There is a simple way to settle things: to get a non-American referee. Otherwise, the fight must be in USA. Ward should have gone outside in the first part of the tournament but at this stage, the one with the more points should have the advantage.
Abraham is a one dimensional plodder. A very tough one, but still, only that. Ward should take the fight in Germany no problem, it is an easy win for him if he opts to stick and move.
I dont see what the problem is, its no fault of Andre's what so ever, infact the blame should be on abrahams team or promoter as they negotiated that every fight would be in his home town. They made that decision and signed for it, now they must shut **** up and abide by the contract. If ward was getting knocked out in previous S6 tournaments we would not hear anyone moaning.
So Abraham shouldn't have to fight Ward in Oakland? He doesn't have to fight him at all. He can pull out the same way Kessler, Taylor and Dirrell did. There hasn't been a bit of controversy surrounding Ward's last three fights. He won them easily and one-sidedly. Ward is gonna stop Abraham. And as far as this idea that Ward has gotten away with fighting dirty, I think some of you might be on the wrong website. As Hopkins once said, "If you don't wanna get a bruise, take up golf."
So what they couldn't have them(Bute/Andrade) ? What's your point. My match up is build on the fact that Andrade was mandatory so if Showtime wanted the IBF belt in the tournament they take them both. If they wanted Bute in, they would've talked to the guy, they left Bute in the dark stopped talking with him, that's why he gone to HBO the previous fight Bute v Zuniga was on Showtime , Zuniga was proposed by Showtime. Super Six Tournament was announced on 15-07-2009 Bute vs Andrade 2 on HBO was announced on 12-08-2009 If they wanted Bute they could have gotten him.
