LOL! Nah man...do your history homework! Arguello wasn't past his prime...his record would speak for itself after the two defeats at the hands of Pryor. The only way KT would Murder Pryor is with a M-16. B/c KT can't compete on any level with Aaron. Not the skills dept, not the talent dept, not the athletic ability dept...NOTHING except the power dept KT has an advantage which means nothing if you don't have the speed or skills to land flush. It's just not a realistic conclusion to have KT over Aaron Pryor in a mythical match up like this. KT beating Pryor is like saying a prime Ali looses to a Prime Rocky Marciano. Just not realistic.....And I'm being generous comparing KT and Aaron to both Marciano and Ali but it's a good comparison.
Dude....just go back and watch Arguello vs Mancinni, Arguello vs Ramierez and Arguello vs Limon! You can even watch both Arguello vs Pryor bouts and you'll see that Alexis has more versitality in any ONE of those fights than anything that KT has shown throughout his entire career. KT's just a very STRONG, composed and technical boxer who had very good success against very good oppostion. KT's only big win was Zab Judah! C'mon man....get it together. There is no comparing an ATG to a Hall of famer. It's like bringing a knife to a gun fight.
You make a few decent points but then failed horribly when you said Judah was the only decent winatsch For ****sake get a hold of yourself man. Comparing a ATG to a HOFer? Think deeply about that. The fact is Arguello was a past it LW that Pryor struggled with....What did Pryor or Arguello do after their fights together? Nothing of note..On the other hand after Tszyu lost to Phillips he would work his way back and become the first undisputed champion at 140.....You're right theres no comparison, Tszyu wins
Damn, I only made that comment in retaliation, but Tszyu "far more versatile" than Arguello? That's downright laughable.
No I'm not. I'm actually a fan of both Pryor and Tszyu, I can just see the obvious difference in talent and strength of resume
Who are you referring to? That's because they both made plans to retire. Arguello came back to Ko Cilly Costello after 3 years off, while Pryor ruined his career with drugs. You don't seem to be taking into account the stage of his career Arguello was at when he faced Pryor? What more could he achieve? You also aren't taking into account Pryor's out of ring issues, which lead to his downfall. Noone's saying he had an ATG career, but in his prime he definitely had ATG ability.
maybe just "more versatile" but again this isnt about Arguello(who I feel was more talented Prime for Prime than Pryor and had a better career) its about Pryor(who fought less than stellar opposition that merely highlighted what abilities he had(other than Arguello)
Tszyu's resume is nothing special in itself, he was just a more dedicated fighter than Pryor, and thus went on to have a fuller career. None of his wins were as good as Pryor's destructions of Arguello on the other hand, and he never showed the abilities Pryor did. Being KO'd in your prime by a guy like Vince Phillips really doesn't bode well for your chances against a guy like Pryor.
Pryor was extremely talented, that is beyond dispute, use a different word. I hardly think Tszyu's paw, straight right, straight right, paw, straight right, etc etc style was more versatile than Arguello's, who was one of the best punch pickers of all time and could fight from any range with success.
My bad....."Cool" Vince was a solid win as well! And if I said "DECENT" I didn't mean that b/c KT has some very good wins....I just never seen him win a GREAT fight against a GREAT fighter. And again....Alexius wasn't shot or completely past his prime...both men were around a similar stage in their careers when they met and they are only 2 or 3 yrs apart in age. Alexius went on to win a handfull of fights against very good opposistion to remain relevant at 140 after his two losses at the hands of the hawk.....Pryor went on to win a handfull of good fights as well before taking a long break. And while KT's comeback and unifying the 140 divsion was very honorable and respectable he beat up Hurtado for the WBC title (decent fighter)...then he beat Shramba Mitchell for the WBA...then Zab Judah for the IBF... Where is the great win...aside from the "History" stand point of Unifying there is little substance to the competition he beat up to that point...again Judah has his best win...was it Great?....eh. No comparision...Pryor is definitly a better fighter.
Pryors victory over Arguello is no goddamn different than Tszyus victory over Chavez... To be honest both Tszyu and Pryor had what you could call a complete package and were fairly similar, Tszyu having better power and Pryor having better footwork and jab. Theres really not much between them but my pick for Tszyu is again based on level and more importantly difference of style in opposition We both have viable arguments, I just can't see a prime Tszyu losing to Pryor.... In all honesty I don't think either of us would be surprised with a victory by either fighter
Well they are comparable or else neither of us would be here making valid points. Theres a reason Tszyu is ranked ahead of Pryor all time at 140 by many:yep
