I just read the article on the front page, and Tua says he wants to keep going. I'll believe it when he shows up 25 pounds lighter for his next fight. I went back and watched the Ibeabuchi fight for the first time in years, and I had forgotten what a great fight to watch it was. A 225 pound Tua was and active fighter that had footwork and threw punches the entire fight. The Tua that just fought Barrett was sad to watch. If he can stop shoveling food in his face and start doing road work, he could still get some decent money fights, and he might surprise us. If he learns how to get inside the long jab that that guys like the Klits have, thats where he does his damage with those wicked hooks.
Tua is done. What kind of opponent can he possibly land given that he just lost to a gate keeper? He would have to spend at least a year fighting cans before anyone of note gave him a shot and by that time Tua will be way past it or unmotivated again to do well against anyone of note. In an absolute crossroads fight, Tua has failed twice and you need to let it go.
Barrett came in at his absolute best and gave his absolute best for 12 full rounds, Tua didn't, he only woke up and started landing anything of note from about round nine onwards. Monte was gassed by the 10th but had the luxury of holding and tying David up for the rest of the fight because he could afford to lose points for holding such was his lead. They should both retire now: Barrett with his head held high after a fine win away from home claiming a couple of regional WBO trinkets and Tua hanging his head in shame wondering what might have been had he shown any serious dedication to his craft... To answer the prevailing question in the thread, i don't think Tua has any hope at all of beating either K Bro, he simply cannot get past a jab, he couldn't get past Lewis' in his prime and he struggled to get past Barrett's for the first half of the fight and I can't believe people are making arguments based on "Yeah, but what IF HE COULD GET PAST THE JAB AND LAND?" Yeah, but HE CAN'T. Oh and huge props to Barrett for getting up from that shot, but it took 24 rounds for Tua to land it.
no rubber match needed, although i read online that barrett has suggested they could have a wrestling match-up in the future. It looks like monte is headed to wwe and tua's family has wrestling heritage. Okay, it's not a real sport but i'm not against these guys making some cash without getting punched in the head! Barrett i feel will only box again if it's a massive payday, if Tua wants to continue he shld maybe fight kali meehan who is beatable and has the wbf trinket, then welliver after that...
Which power? He's fought glass-jawed Monte twice and failed to beat him both times. The power is all but gone.
Was Barret serious about WWE? :rofl He doesnt have big enough name to get there easy way. So he would have to actually learn to wrestle and it will be very hard to earn spot in WWE roster. I dont think it is serious option unless he has some connections to management or something
He's good friends with John Cena who's a legend in the 'sport' and pulls a lot of the strings apparently - i'm clueless about this plastic fighting myself - so I think it's pretty much there if he wants it...
Haye was good against most opponents and could have been even against Wlad - but wilted back - over cautious. Maybe Haye should fight Tua. Haye would beat him for sure.
