You never saw the fight. Admit it. It's on youtube. You could easily educate yourself. I was wrong...he was up at 6. 6. "What is this! We are going to have a riot here!" "I can't believe what I just saw...but it is a WBC referee..." "That was hardly a devastating punch...he was up at 6!" This content is protected
At least you are trying. The history is the history...it was the most blatant screwjob in the history of boxing, and right there on youtube for the world to see. As for a bad chin, Lewis has beaten every man he has stepped in the ring with, was only down twice, and was only legit stopped once. Considering that he faced punchers McCall, Rahmen, Holyfield, Tyson, VitKlitsckho, Tua, Mercer, Morrison, Mason, Bruno. Golata, Briggs, Grant, and I am probably forgetting a few more, his chin was purely and simply amazing.
Tyson was much much faster and had better punch variety than Tucker and he didn't come close to stopping him. Don't see how Marciano can hit tucker if tucker keeps moving. The ali-esque movement wasn't around in marciano era and he wouldn't be prepared for it. Don't think he would have the footspeed to trap him either and if he did he would be facing a guy who has a really good chin and both a Handspeed and 35lb weight advantage. Terrible matchup for Rocky, his workrate is irrelevant if his clumsy feet don't get him infront of ANY decent post Ali era mover. The fact that Tucker is 6'5 and had a really good chin just seals the deal. Rocky beats almost any "stay in the pocket counterpuncher" but he never had to deal with modern height and movement.
Tucker would have given Holmes a far harder fight than Leon did and he took Mike`s best shots, no way could Holmes have hurt Tucker, Marciano wouldn`t have hurt Tucker either, but he might have worn him down eventually.
Tucker didn`t move as clever as Ali did vs Williams plus in that fighht Ali constantly moved his head off the center line, Tucker got caught by shots that Ali wouldn`t have and Rocky would have landed more on Tucker than he could have on the quicker Ali, Marcano had a shuffle and change up on leg positions that allowed him to get in close, he also had a leaping hook that cut distance, but his arms may have been too short here I agree.
Oh yeah I forgot about the body punching, it`s easier to land body shots on bigger guys than head shots and Tyson started an a mazing effective body attack on Tucker after Rooney told him to adjust to Tucker`s jab by getting under it and throwing an uppercut to the body.
Its definitely a bad matchup for Rocky .While I rate Charles waay higher than Tucker at Heavyweight ,by the time he faced Marciano I believe his best days were a long time gone .And yet he gave Marciano all he could handle ,coming close to stopping him on that split nose injury in the second fight .But Marciano facing an in prime ,excellent boxer with ace chin ,no way can I see him riding over Tucker or coming from behind as he did with Walcott .A extremely hard fight for RM
