Face it, Borat is an itch that we can't help but scratch! It is like trying to not look at an auto accident.
Bert Sugar DID rate Dempsey #1 on his heavyweight list - I think it was a list published in 1991 - but he backed down from that. If I recall correctly, the top 5 was 1. Dempsey 2. Louis 3. Ali 4. Johnson 5. Tunney
They are Sugar's lists not mine and they were made later than the one you provided. On this very thread you stated that Nat Fleischer had Jack Dempsey as his number one heavyweight,I told you this was incorrect and you got abusive. Now you produce a link to support your argument on Sugar which coincidentally had Fleischers list on it too ,it clearly shows that Dempsey was not rated at number one by Fleischer ,he always rated Jack Johnson in that spot. Here is your original statement. "I never claimed that Dempsey has (you lay some words in my mouth which I never had thought about), while most people rank Dempsey higher than Lewis; some have him in the top ten or even 5 (Nate Fleischer had him as the best heavyweight ever, ahead of Jeffries, Louis, Johnson, Sullivan, Marciano, Corbett and Clay was outside the top 10)." Here is the last list YOU have provided. Nat Fleischer, Founder of Ring Magazine, 1958, 1971. Jack Johnson Jim Jeffries Bob Fitzsimmons Jack Dempsey Jim Corbett Joe Louis Sam Langford Gene Tunney Max Schmeling Rocky Marciano Now can we finally agree that you are wrong , don't have a clue what you are talking about,[join the club!] and make as much logical sense as Lewis Carroll's "Jabberwocky," when it comes to evaluating boxers ,boxing and all matters of and concerning pugilism? Now Rasta Borat, I must bid you farewell , there is only so much time one can afford to spend debating with a lunatic.
Fleisher only had one list. He wrote an article in great detail describing why he had NOT ever revised it. He never rated Jeffries over Johnson. He never rated Louis over Dempsey. ALL of these changes took place after he died via Nat Loubet.
Fleischer's list never altered and the one YOU posted is from1971. Since Fleischer died in June 1972 those articles of his that YOU say were published in1987 give a new meaning to the words "ghosted". Thanks for the entertainment!
