Back off there tough guy, Farmboxer is a legend here at ESB, it wouldn't be the same without him. You are a mere nuthuggin' & sack swinging Peter fanboy novice. :good Proper respect bumwipe.
Tye Fields is no world beater but I like his new seek & destroy type style. Very little form but decent power & plenty of punches. What's not to like? If you want to see good boxing with power watch Wladimir, but Fileds is a helluva slugger with basically no defense. What's not to like again?
Let's put it this way - if they ever matched Fields with Valuev, Valuev would be a MAJOR favorite to beat him. How many fighters, outside out low level journeymen and outright tomato cans would be as a big an underdog to Nicolai as Fields would be? Can't think of a one, frankly.
To be fair Tye Fields looked awful in that clip. But that is understandable if he had no amteur experience. Best of luck to him, but Rahman (even in this stage of his career) would batter him.
HE is awefuly slow and lacks defence. Even Rahman today should be able to easily beat Fields. Fields relays on his punching power. Even this tomato can he fought recently was able to land some very clean punches on Fields. If Rahman landed any of those punches Fields would be on the canvas.
No kidding!! Rahman was a glass-jawed mediocrity when he was in his "prime." Now, he's even WORSE! Feather-fisted TAURUS SYKES rocked him last year. Even Fields could knock this guy out. Rahman really isn't THAT big a step up from the palookas he's been fighting, frankly.
I'm assuming you just don't like Hasim Rahman. Because at his best he was a pretty decent heavyweight. Just watch his wins over Lewis or Sanders. Or even his fight with Tua to see he had some skill when he was at his best. Even as he's gotten older he's done well. Inconsistent but still a top 10 kind of fighter. Now, over the last year or two he has clearly went into a noticeable decline. Having troubles with Sykes and Lawrence shows he's clearly slipped and is ripe to be a name on someone's resume. Can Tye Fields be the one to take advantage of Rahman's decline? I doubt it,, Rahmans slipped but not quite that much. It's still an interesting fight, but Fields is average at best and Rahman would probably k.o him.
I think Fields would beat Rahman now. Hasim doesn't throw enough punches anymore, and his speed has fallen off dramatically. I watched a replay of Lewis I recently and he was much quicker to the punch.
Not so sure about that. No doubt that Valuev is a much better boxer than Fields, but Fields has 3 times the stamina of Valuev, and since they're similar sizes, he wouldn't need to maneuver too strangely to get in there and land punches in bunches. I could see a fight between those two looking a lot like a slower HW version of the Mashaba-Cruz fight (Valuev landing the better punches and with greater accuracy, but Fields outworking him all night long). In any case, I think it's about as bad of a style matchup as there is out there for Valuev (short of fighting a Klitschko), and it would be a close fight. It seems to me that Fields would be much more likely to beat Valuev than just about any other top level HW since he doesn't pose much of a knockout threat and has a relatively low workrate and so-so stamina.
:bart Rahman a mediocrity in his prime is a bit overboard, but i agree given his current form, it's not too huge a step up from field's recent comp. Unless rahman somehow cuts a lot weight and gets in fantastic shape, Fields will beat him imo. Fields is too active and too strong for the current Rahman to survive. The only question is Field's chin (i've only seen 2 or 3 of his fights) because he can fairly easy be hit, but it looked ok.
I think Ty is a technically better boxer now than he was 8 years ago.. He was just a big punk who was a sideshow muscle fighter , but now he is a very capable strong skillful puncher for a big man.. I saw him spar 3 years ago and was shocked how fast he was when he let the hands go.. I give him a chance against Rahman.. Rahman is too inconsistant... God bless..
