What kind of crap is this? How many guys can you name that Mike fought who were shorter than him? The list is less than 5! As for Biggs fight have you not seen it? Mike gave him a sustained beating BECAUSE he COULD. Biggs like most other 80`s heavies was too busy listening to his hype and smoking crack. If he had stuck with the team that D'matto had set him up with including Kevin Rooney remaning his traner he would have been the domminat heavyweight into the mid 90's.
Mike was a young sensetive and insecure kid, he had a dream and Cus instilled in him that he could become the champion even when he was an absolute novice. Mike trusted and beleived in him infinitely.. Cus introduced him to Jimmy , Bill and Rooney and they all became a solid unit... Mike knew very few people as closely as he did those few. He actually became isolated and focussed on his destiny from 1984 onwards. When Cus passed Mike became a lot more close to Jimmy Jacobs and when Jimmy passed he stuck as close as he could to the last missing links , Bill and Kevin.. Bill was more of a businessman and not as loving a figure as the other two and he sought Kevin as like a brother figure.. When Robyn came around ... Mike was completely obsessed with her, and Kevin , Bill and everyone who tried to get through to him were seen as the enemy by Givens and Roper.. Mike started to trust her above everyone else.. Then when Kevin and Bill were edged away he had lost Givens trust also when the marriage went sour.. Mike had lost every link back to Cus and didn't know who to trust, Money meant very little to Mike and he just became very lost... I think he never regained the desire to achieve much when he realised he wasn't achieving happiness.. The hunger that he had on the way up , was unmatched and King just saw Mike as a huge cash cow.. Yes I think Mike would have stayed on top a lot longer because he listened to Cus and the advice offered like his life depended on it.. He would have never been as laid back as he was going in against Douglas and he would have never been caught off guard like he was. I don't know for definite if he would have gone forever unbeaten but i can say this.. Kevin , Cus and Jimmy Jacobs made Mike feel safe, and when Mike felt that way he was relaxed and comfortable in life.. It was the nearest thing to family he had since his mothers death.. Mike was a great fighter inside the ring when everything was going ok out of it.. When life outside the ropes became turmoil, his career in them started to show major cracks, like he couldn't hack life with no structure.. Its still very evident today.. I don't half feel sorry for mike in many ways....
