I still contend that the fighters I mentioned were stiffs.

    Amen.

Frank isn't beating Tyson if they fought a dozen times. The absolute best he can do is hang in there. But as far as a competitive matchup goes, the Bruno chances are no better than Seldon's. Frank just has a lot more fans than Bruce Seldon.

But it was a big big payday for him And getting that much $$$ for a Bruno fight against Tyson at least saw him well compensated. How many guys in boxing can say that?

The mystique of Tyson in the media was so overblown the second go round except this time it was for doing nothing. Tyson established himself as that scary force previously by being a great fighter and beating guys. They feared Tyson because they couldnt hit him and were getting knocked out in return. It was there in plain sight, guys getting knocked out because they would miss and get countered hard.

Second time around he did it by hanging out with Tupac and creating more of a ghetto image. Buster Mathis didnt buy into it, but Bruno did and so did Seldon. Holyfield saw what Mathis saw, a undisciplined fighter whose technique became very amatuerish and easy to expose.

FYI, Bruno held everyone not just Tyson. He fouled everyone by holding and hitting on the side of the head.

Not even a 'your mistaken' or anything, just a flat out 'Wrong!!'. Tough crowd.

Ok, he was with w@rren. Whoever the fk he was with be it w@rren,duff, lawless or fkin fu man chu, i still stand by my original post. Theyda threw him in a 3rd,4th,5th time if they coulda, and watched him get battered

#1 he already lost to Tyson by KO
#2 now this version of Tyson was coming from prison!

Although Tyson was only a parody of his former self,Bruno has the self doubt, that fear and he lost it all that night.

On a side note,Tyson is the best example of a deteriorating fighter. After he left Rooney and after prison, you can actually see him getting worse, losing skill with every passing second.

Like Mike said "I have the ability to stay in shape but I dont have the fighting guts no more."

    It's very mental.

You make a good point. Tyson's image became that of a ghetto thug especially after Jail.

And your right about Bruno. He was known for rabid punching.

    Correct. :good

Well, I think, when you're making accusations of managers/promoters operating in such a callous mercenary manner with no regard for the physical welfare of their fighter, it's fair to point the fingers at the right people .... and it's just a little unfair to point the finger at 'former' managers who had no involvement.
But, yeah, i suspect most managers would have ...

Then again, Bruno always had that 'puncher's chance' against anyone.

Ironic, considering that Tyson was always more a product of the ghetto than Tupac Shakur, who went to freaking ballet school as a teenager !

Bizarre world we live in, when a juvenile mugger-turned-heavyweight champion from Brownsville, Brooklyn increases his "tough guy" ghetto credentials by hanging around with a make-up-wearing musician with an identity crisis.

Yes very true, but Shakur was a crazy guy himself regardless of his background.

So do I, in the cold light of day, but I'd be a hypocrite to say I wasn't hoping and 'sentimental reasoning' that Bruno would/could catch Tyson coming in with a big bomb and score an upset KO.

Bruno was able to connect pretty good on Tyson in both fights. He just wasnt going to ever put Tyson down with one shot and never had the ability to put punches together well enough to keep him down.

True, the manner of his death kind of confirms the craziness of his life.
There was a time when I thought Tyson was heading that way.
God willing, he seems to have found a safer quieter mode of living.
