The script called for Fury to win on a technicality (countout), and then for Strowman to hit his finisher on him after the match and lay Fury out. That way Fury gets the win, but Strowman still ends up looking strong in defeat. Win-Win.

Fury popped up after a few seconds as if nothing had happened. Strowman looks like a guy who loses to non-wrestlers and can't even hurt them when he jumps them from behind with his big move.

The commentators tried to cover up, and Strowman will get over it. Fury won't be in the good books though, as wrestlers can get really pissy about that kind of thing.

Wrestling is very formulaic. It's the same match that's been played out thousands of times before.

Mate, you've no idea how the WWE told him to act after that body slam. Fury took his top off and start shouting out the ring at Strowman. Such actions appear more scripted than rolling around injured.

As someone who watched wrestling religiously for like 10 years as a kid, I can tell you within 99% certainty that the post you just dismissed was accurate.

Fury would have been told to get up slowly, holding his back feigning pain not spring to his feet and start bouncing around like nothing had happened. His ego had other plans.

    It is what it is.

People want to disrespect wrestlers because it's all fake but the fact remains they train year round, are on the road performing 351 days a year and are generally as tough as you like.

See Rick Rude finishing the last 10 minutes of his final match with a broken neck which would cause his retirement, vader popping his removed eyeball back into its socket after it had popped out, Mick Foley finishing a match after his ear had been ripped off, HHH finishing one with a torn quad which required 9 months of rehab and countless other examples.

Most of you on here would be crying your eyeballs out after taking a couple of "fake" bodyslams.

Unless they want one of their top guys to look like a *****, what happened doesn't make any sense. If it was part of the script, it also wouldn't make any sense for the commentators (who are being prompted what to say) to try and cover over it.

Giving Fury the benefit of the doubt, it may just have been an adrenaline thing. Personally I think it's more likely Fury just didn't want him lying flat on his back to be the final shot of the match. It's not like they can stop him getting up or redo the end at that point.

Bit of a name dropping post but I was friends (lost touch when I came off social media) with William Regal due to mutually knowing Bobby Ball (there you go, 2 names in one paragraph :) ). We’ve met up socially and kept in touch via email. He sent me an x-ray of his neck where it was pretty much just an absolute mess and needed extensive surgery. I’ve not watched wrestling since the early 90’s but them fella’s deserve full respect for what they put their bodies through. It’s acting, but it’s extremely dangerous and stressful on the body. Credit to them.

Separately, I read the Brett the hitman hart book a few years ago for nostalgia, and it was really sad to hear of my childhood heroes, dying off one by one with heart attacks, strokes etc.

Haha. I could name drop loads, but I’d sound like an even bigger bell**d than I already do on here :)

I only know him because I’m friends with his two sons who are a double act. We used to do a podcast a few years ago. His sons are proper nice lads, something I can’t really say the same for with their dad though.

Wrestling a much harder 'sport' than boxing.

I watched a documentary called beyond the mat and I'll never diss a wrestler again, it may be scripted but boy it's an hard hard old game.

Them lads have to juice as ridiculous as that sounds. They have to look huge and put a lot of strain on their bodies. The amount of them lads who die prematurely (40’s and 50’s) is just mental.
