Odd mismatch here, Cooper is just to small, he gets stopped in 5 or 6 rounds, on cuts or excessive punishment... If Cooper were fighting today he would be a cruiserweight, the man would simply be too small at heavyweight, he could get seriously hurt... In boxing you need a cruiserweight class, then heavyweight, and anything over 250 should be superheavyweight..
Cooper is not the kind of boxer to give Fury problems. Give him a stubborn heavyweight with stamina, and it is another tale. I'm rooting for him though, I'm a traveller myself.
Fury beats Chisora (who he beat before) and everyone thinks he's some sort of exceptional fighter ??? Cooper was exactly great either. But he's certainly got a chance against a guy who hit the deck against Steve Cunnigham.
I searched through all of the responses.....not one of them mentioned what you suggested, so what are you talking about?
Thread only has 2 pages. I'm referring to the crowd who thinks all of olders fighters were superhuman and that those in the present don't stand a chance.
If height and weight is all that matters, then bring on Marciano, I would have flattened him! At the moment there is no evidence on Fury's record to suggest he would have beaten Cooper inside three minutes, indeed there is little evidence to suggest he would win.
Henry Cooper was 6'2 at least. I'm not sure why people are making out Fury is "a foot taller". Might be half a foot taller.
As things stand now I am going to go with Cooper for the reasons given, but this is a case where I might change my mind further down the line.
If that was the case...bodies would be flying everytime Fury throws a punch because he pretty much outsizes all of his opponents? Being a foot taller or a few pounds heavier doesnt automatically give you punch power. Stop with the size is power bull****.
