A silver lining for all fight fans after Fury's ignominious performance last month was that we didn't have to endure his umpteenth post-fight rendition of "American Pie." If Fury wins in February, here's hoping Usyk at least takes enough out of him so that he doesn't attempt a comeback as a crooner. And "American Pie" creator Don McLean's from my hometown!
Sad but true. If the results are reversed, the whole of boxing might as well turn off the lights and lock the doors. Kids will migrate to MMA gyms, and boxing will receive the same skeptical eye as those fake martial arts that get laughed at on YouTube.
As much as I’m routing for Usyk, I have a sneaking suspicion Fury will pull it out the bag and break Usyk down late in the fight. I think he uses his size to bully and tire Usyk out before winning a late stoppage or close points decision.
IF this fight actually takes place, Fury will have to be at his tip top best to win it unless they screw Usyk like they did Lomachenko. I kinda think that his lifestyle might preclude his acheiving peak form at this point. Might end up looking like Crawford vs Spence.
Fury at his best decimates Usyk. Neither can be at their best, it's not physically possible. Usyk is 37 shoulder surgery and Fury is 35 going on 37 elbow surgery. Both very inactive.
When both are at their peak, Fury wins and fairly comfortably. But, in his last fight Fury looked seriously poor and any number of his key attributes might be seriously diminished such as his foot speed, balance, reflexes, or gas tank. Usyk looks diminished but ok. It's a very tough fight to call IMO. Particularly as Ngannu's attributes are being overlooked by the Usyk fanboys. For instance, Fury will probably be able to grapple Usyk and use his strength and weight advantage in a way that he was repeatedly punished for against Francis. The other thing going for Fury is that I can't see him being knocked out. I picked Usyk on points but a dirty Fury points win or a Fury late KO are possible.
If it actually happens, I'll begrudgingly pay for it. Contact or no contract, it's not a given cast in stone. I'll pay on the day, and not before. Begrudgingly.....
ya ya......knew i should have ignored the notification...upon the reflection, the funny part is that i don't think you know what "decimates" means.
I hear your sentiment, and I am not going to argue with it. You kept on saying "Too big, too strong", like you were quoting me however. I never said that. I said that I believe he still has too much for Usyk. I think his size, stamina, defense, boxing ability, and power all combined when in shape is too much for anyone at the moment. Assuming of course he is not completely shot. I also said that I believe Usyk has what it takes to keep it close, and I can definitely see a path to victory for him. You responded to me while pulling a quote out of thin air, and acting like I said it. I suggest you go back and read my first post, and then your response.
