I'm looking forward to the rematch, assuming it happens. But to be fair he didn't keep moving forward, the ropes kept him off the canvass and the ref did the rest.
I agree. One of the best heavyweight fights I've seen in quite some time. Definitely lived up to the hype, and quite frankly surpassed my expectations. I thought Fury's size was going to be to much to overcome, and it was going to make for a relatively boring fight, with Usyk being able to do little except survive. I'll be the first to admit he proved me wrong.
To write off and underestimate Fury is a mistake only a fool would make Usyk saying it was his hardest fight isn't just about how hard the actual bout was. It's how hard the physical and mental preparations were. Usyk was limping back to his changing rooms, he gave everything in that bout. To overcome the mid rounds was exceptional as he is. If Fury won his motivation in boxing would be nill. Usyk has given him life. Fury won't be as tentative with the unexpected of Usyk messing around this time. No hands behind back rope games. No 3 man corner.
the serious bettors wait til close to fight night in order to let the clueless money accumulate. it betters their payoff. its their bets that tilt the odds one direction or the other. oddsmakers dont set a line based on probabilities of a win by either fighter, they set a line based on how they think the betting will equal out, so that for every winning bet you got losing bets to pay the winners. but you could be right, since it isnt based on the fighters as much as the bettors. and if you got enough fury fans willing to pay for bad odds, then odds will stay pretty even.
I'm an Usyk fan but I'm glad that Fury is taking this strong mental attitude. Any other approach and he'd get slaughtered.
Kinda have a soft spot for the loser in the rematch regardless of who. I think Usyk's going to prove his point in this one. I hope Tyson takes it and makes for a third. Just the way it is. As people, I like Usyk more, so I am likely to back him but I'm not gonna cry if Tyson comes back stronger and better. It's good for us all really.
Things that may work in Fury's favour is that Usyk is starting to show his age now, looks slower and doesn't throw as much punches. Also, Usyk will be taking time to make a Hollywood film where he may become civilised and not as hungry to win.
He is practically finished. If he beats Usyk (unlikely) it really only shows Usyk is finished too. They are both brilliant skillful boxers but it is a shame have the world championship held up by these in decline fighters .. , while younger and ambitious contenders are out in the cold - until they too become old or past best? & notice no heavyweights based outside of the UK have been given a shot at any version of world title since 2021. Does not look likely to happen in 2024 either.
