Douglas trained his ass off for Tyson and didn't train for Holyfield, if you knew a thing about boxing you'd see Douglas's gameplan was perfect to neutralise Tyson's gameplan, but you don't, you just like the taste of Tyson's balls Douglas overcame his Everest and people negate it, it sickens me
Do people say the same thing about Hasim Rahman? He trained his ass off and went to Africa early and knocked out Lennox Lewis but Lewis gets the pass because he didnt train and was able to obtain a rematch and knock Rahman out. Douglas was about as good as Hasim Rahman realistically.
Holyfield was never going to let a fight slip away like Tyson would. Tyson, when it became clear in the Douglas fight that he was in over his head that night and just wasn't gonna get the better of the action, reduced himself to wild haymakers and praying. Tyson was a destroyer, who had never been in a truly competitive fight; The best fighters had managed to do against Mike was run and hold, survive and try to be opportunistic. One of the main objectives of the Douglas camp in the Tyson fight was to put Mike in a hole, and keep the pressure on, because there was simply no way that he would respond well, and he really didn't, ever. Holyfield would push; He'd been in the type of fights he needed to be able to keep coming till a fights course reversed itself. It was possibly his one advantage over Mike, and its a very significant one. Douglas, somewhere deep, didn't think he was going to be able to overcome a fighter like Holyfield, and didn't bother training. I doubt he would have shown up in any better shape for a rematch with Mike, and would have likely been dispatched in similar fashion. Douglas was great for one night, a night where his mindset, a perfect training camp, and an absolutely flawless execution married to create a truly formidable challenge. He was the best heavyweight on Earth. It was never going to happen again. The Holyfield fight merely showed that. I also think, had Mike not been going off the rails, the fight would have been a terrific learning experience for him as a man, and a boxer. Its a shame he was likely too far gone to learn anything at all.
I disagree with the bold. Holyfield actually turned a win into a loss against Bowe in their third fight. There's a lot more of this post I disagree with. Tyson was in many competitive fights along the way where he didn't just bowl over his opponent. Ferguson, Tillis, Ribalta...all fights he was winning but were competitive nonetheless.
Douglas everest involves beating a man who was out of shape and unmotivated and someone who over looked him, he then he reverted back to his normal self against Holyfield. Neutralising a punchbag is quiet easy, you just keep hitting it Ive forgotten more about boxing than you will ever learn. In fact, Douglas phoned me last night, he told me to tell you to stop changing your lipstick, because his nob is beginning to look like a rainbow :hi:
The press actually laughed at Moorer at the weigh-in when his weight was announced. I mean, Jesus, that's rough for a pro to hear. And Moorer did have more of a spare tire going on than the first fight, but still. He wasn't Butterbean up there.
He looked awful, fat n flabby. Holyfield fought extremely aggressive, possbily with confidence after Koing Tyson and seeing Foreman Koing Moorer
This is perhaps the best excuse for Douglas! :rofl All these excuses for why Holyfield beat Douglas and why Douglas didnt beat Holyfield but beat Tyson. Great stuff.
