Tyson, Spadafora, DLH, Pavlik: Alcoholics & high level boxers?

    It dehydrates you and decreases protein synthesis, you're better off without it. But if you drink a lot you'll be more tolerant to the effects. Make no mistake you're still doing damage. And btw, most boxers aren't 'elite athletes'. Out of the guys mentioned I'd only classify Tyson as a talented athlete, Pavlik and DLH were just big guys with little muscle mass - allowing them to have long levers for their weight classes, which gave them a torque advantage.

    I dont think you can drink and have a long career.

    All of those names mentioned all looked hollow by the time they were 30.

    If boxing is so easy, why didn't other fighters supplant DLH, Pavlik or Spadafora earlier? Granted DLH was brought up smart by Arum/Top Rank, but he did face some great fighters and did really well.

    Only thing this makes me wonder is "Is this why Hopkins is so good?"
