Lewis stops Tyson. Only way I see Tyson winning is early. Lewis to pepper him with his jab and slowly break him down.
This fight could, and should have been made in '92, when they were both young and blisteringly fast. Anyway, '88 Tyson vs '92-97' Lewis.... Tyson by (T)Ko 3, or KO 4. Speed kills.
Lennox Lewis Prime version vs Tyson 88 version Rahman have land a lucky great shot and have Knockout lewis. Tyson 88 would Land 10-20 Great Punches with his speed skills and destroy Lewis i think Tyson by Knockout round 5-6
I keep regurgitating this and will continue to do so. Lewis of the Rahman fight was the worst Lewis who ever stepped in the ring. Trained for 2 weeks for a fight at an altitude of 5,200 feet. Now, why do you think Rahman landed that shot in the first place.....:think
I am guessing their claim to fame is Michael Spinks, though he was pissing his pants before the fight started so there. Lewis has beaten the much better competition.
I think it's ahrd to say when Tysons prime was. I suppose it was his Title winning fight and the first few defenses, so 86-88???? If so, average champions james Smith and Tony Tucker took him the distance. Larry 'Should be in an old peoples' Holmes, Tony 'Seen the bottom of too many Hagen Dazs' Tubbs and Tyrell 'probably likes em' Biggs are about the best names on his record in the W column aprt from Spinks who beat himself before he even got in the ring, and TBH I don't consider him to be that good a fighter anyway. Then Douglas (29-4-1) kicked the **** out of him. Tyson is a myth biult on looking good knocking out tomato cans in his early days.
I'm just going to post some quotes that I agree with from my January topic, which unlike this one, was not a cesspool of ignorance and hatred. For anyone questioning Tyson's stamina, he showed solid stamina against Tillis, Green and especially Ribalta for 10 rounds, and superb stamina across 12 rounds against Smith, Tucker and Ruddock.
Tyson's power was totally exposed by Ruddock. That guy's chin was pure china and a guy in his prime couldn't finish him. Embarrassing. Lewis domonstated what to do to a bum like Ruddock.
A shell? Not true at all. Lack of Focus on Lewis's part to prepare for Rahman properly? Yes, we may be able to go with that.
That's what a "shell" means in boxing. It is a metaphor. It does not mean he was actually a hollow shell. Whatever happened to him he was an out of shape guy who could not breath and pretty much asked his opponent to knock him out. He just stopped fighting in the middle of a fight.
:rofl You sure are dedicated. At the end on Tyson-Ruddock II, Razor's face was swollen like the bloody Elephant man and his jaw was broken. Tyson brutally beat the punch resistance out of Ruddock and he was damaged goods afterwards.
Peak years would be from Berbick to Spinks. Holmes was past his prime, no doubt, but look at his resume after Tyson. Take his fight with Ray Mercer for example: Larry won that by UD. Lewis had a tough fight with Mercer years later. All those that took Tyson the distance lost by UD. You fight defensive throughout the fight and you can survive but you won't win. Take chances, and your chances of winning go up but so do the openings that you leave for Tyson to counter/attack. That's the risk. Douglas kicked the **** out Tyson, true; but that wasn't exactly a trained Tyson. We are talking about at their best. It happens. Lewis was trained but may have lacked focus against Rahman and he got KTFO. It happens. Here is a thought: That version of Tyson that fought Douglas vs. the version that fought from Berbick to Spinks? What happens? Douglas-Tyson would get his ass kicked and knocked out as well. And remember, Douglas beat Oliver McCall, same man that knocked Lewis out, right before he {Douglas} faced Tyson. Ray Mercer took Lewis the distance and so did a well past his prime Holyfield. So, I don't know who wins. But, I do think both could go the full distance given their history with other fighters that we've discussed. Both needed to be focused and since this is a "Fantasy fight"...we do put them at their best.
I honestly don't think Tyson gets enough credit for his title reign. It's probably one of the most dominate heavyweight title reign out there. I know alot you guys say he fought nothing but chumps, but alot were legit contenders. The fact is guys like Tony Tucker, Larry Holmes and Frank Bruno were legit contenders and went on to have pretty good careers for years after they fought Tyson.
:rofl:rofl:rofl:rofl:rofl:rofl Wow, that was just in time for Lewis! Nice story dude. Would be good in a comic.
