Who's the best opponent this faded Tyson could take? I'd go for Wlad from 2000-2002, think he'd catch up with his chin.
Vitali Klitschko wanted him before Hide. And right after Hide. I thought guys a bit more dangerous stylewise would've far better for the sport to be buying back then. So I wanted guys like Tua/Sanders/Mercer/Klitschko's. Not the gimmes. Later on a prime Byrd was a match I wanted to see. Even guys like Rahman/Maskaev/Schulz and guys like that were better than the caliber of fighters Tyson was matching up with. I never bought into that "danger" factor of those Tyson opponents & felt there were other guys around at the time with a far greater "danger" factor.
Weird one that isn't it? How is standing about red-eyed in your own little world, repeatedly forgetting what you were just thinking about intensely for ten minutes and going "whu?" a lot going to help you in the ring? Although I suppose stuffing biscuits or frosties into your gob between rounds would be infringing the water only rule a bit.
Frank Bruno was in great condition and had just achieved his dream goal of becoming champ, its very hard to beat a man who has just won a title in those kind of circumstances.. Buster Mathis jr, A great technical fighter and very hard to hit, no quit in Buster and Mike did a great job of breaking him down. Andrew Golota, It was never going to be easy making Andrew fall over, but it was a heart breaker for Golota, he was injured and did not want to have any excuses , and it looked like a quit job, but he had some very severe injurys.. Mike had his hands full and did what it took to grab victory over the very capable pole. Cliff on paper is a great scalp, but imo he was intimidated, i know Clifford well, and he was in a daze all the way through his preps for that fight, i think he was over awed... Francois was not a great performance , he looked slack, his timing was off and he had no game plan at all.. that KO was a dream punch and came in the nick of time before he started losing important rounds.. Bruce Seldon has skills , but like Ettiene .. he was scared to death and if it wasn't for the unification cash, he would never have chosen to fight Tyson.. If he did not act so crass against Orlin Norris and bring controversy to the table once again, he could have looked great against a man who had no height advantage at all , and could have been a great stage showing to elivate his ailing reputation... It was just a bad hair thin choice to hit Norris late in the 1 st round.. Lou Savarese was a big tall strong man, and Mke made fast work of him.. This was a great win and he should have been given higher praise for that win.. Nielsen ... hard nut to crack , but he decided to come to Denmark as heavy as 240... He looked like garbage and allowed Brian to get into a rythmn.. terrible performance, he could have been 220 and ran circles around Brian and won a shut out .. 1 Bruno, 2 Golota, 3 Mathis, 4 Savarese, 5 Seldon... Ettienne he did what it took, but Cliff didn't show up.... he swallowed it.....
