How f***ed up is that? Tyson could of been 6'1, 6'2, or 6'3. Anyways I don't know if that's true, but according to Kevin Rooney Tyson would spar 15 rounds a day. (not everyday but in some days) So yeah Tyson was mentally weak but when he had Kevin Ronney in his corner, he had him prepared to make up for his mental weakness.
Mikes disadvantage was always his true advantage, (his height) watch the Jose Ribalta fight, He could use his thigh power to propell his hardest shots in an upward motion,, The uppercut was Mike best weapon against the taller opposition, Cus loved Mike being short but in no way was any workout designed to make him short , If he could have been any taller Cus would have been able to have used more tools to add to his armoury.. His jab would have been more effective if he was taller and his defence would have been better with his height allowing him to see more from eye level.. Plus,.. If he had more height he would have been able to move faster.. (his wheels would have been able to get him into better positions to attack).. IE.. Cus did well with Mikes limitations via his height.. But more height often allows you some greater advantages.. His short build was good for sheer power, the back pack weights were to work his thighs . so he could bang harder from a squat position.. God bless.. For a short man mike could out jab many very tall talenyed men.. Alfonso Ratliff and Larry Holmes.. If Mike couldn't out jab you he would just take your legs away from yopu by hitting you on the hip to take those legs away then demolishing the head.. Study Mikes fights with Green and Lorenzo Boyd.. That kid from arkansas was taller than Mike and Mikes cutting the ring off allowed him to close the ring off very quickly to land punches at short range.. Being short was purely something Mike made the most of , Not something Constantine enjoyed, if Mike could have been 6 ft 4 D'amato would have jumped through fire and hell to get it.. Look at Cus's other fighters.. Buster Mathis.. he was taller and very powerful and effective ..They had a Heavyweight in Catskills back then i think Jerome was his first name he was 6 ft 3 ish and Cus would have done more with him if he would have had the heart that Mike had..
Man, I use to have to do atleast 1800 to 2000 situps everday. 400 aint ****. Our coach was very tough on us and our fighters were very well conditioned. I guess you werent pushing yourself enough. I didnt think i could do it either, but after some time anything can be done.
