This is how I would see it. Mayweather could have neutralized the speed of Tzysu. Mayweather is not great, but he had potential to be great. He never had the guts to beat guys like Tzysu which he would have I think. His confidence does not really show the confidence of a great fighter. The way he acts gives us insight into his guts-I could see him in a tough fight and get nailed and rocked and almost mentally quit. He didn't seem to want the tough fights. If you want to be great you have to fight the hard fights. There is no way around the challenges. Fighting lesser guys and then boosting those fights as though they are the top challenges will not fool people.
Mayweather not great? I know that his early retirement and blatant ducking of some top contenders don't really portray him in a good light, but I don't understand this statement at all. Mayweather right now is easily one of the greatest 50 fighters in the storied history of boxing. I'd go as far as placing him in the top 30. How can you say that Mayweather never had the guts to face Tszyu? Did you know the details of the negotiations between the two? Perhaps Tszyu wasn't so keen on facing Mayweather. Anyways, objectively speaking, it's ludicrous to say that Mayweather isn't a great fighter unless your criteria of a great fighter is one of the Top 10 fighters of all time.
Absolutely horrible analysis. Mayweather has took tough fights his whole career. Every fight at 130 were against tough Mexican style fighters. At 135 he went toe to toe with one of the best Mexican inside fighters of the last decade with a torn rotator cuff and a broken rib. He finished his career fighting probably the most phyically exhausting fighters you can fight. Ask Tszyu when he quite on his stool. You have no idea what you are talking about. Take Duran and Hearns off your avatar and put a ballerina up there or somethin.
You think Kosta Tszyu would hit Floyd with that same 1-2 he hit Zab with? :rofl Nobody said Floyd fights the same as Phillips, just that he's about 3 levels above him in quality. atsch
