I don't know how anyone can hate Nick Diaz. He has had three fights this year that have been top 10 FOTY quality, and he has won them all convincingly. I genuinely don't understand how anybody could not be a fan of his. Seriously, how many times has he oustruck an opponent that has been touted as the better striker? Yet he still gets no respect for his striking. Yes, he has very porous defense, but, in the end, does he end up with his hand raised? Yes. Pretty well every time.
Old BJ couldn't miss when he threw. Ward might have a good grapple with him but if you are making a case for Diaz fighting at the top level at boxing, go for it
I'm not looking to date him, I'm a fight fan because I like good fights. Diaz puts on great fights, almost every time, win or lose. Besides that, I don't really find him particularly hateable. He is very honest, and speaks very blankly, but I actually respect that. I certainly respect that more that fake/forced "sportsmanship."
It happened in the first round when Diaz was pawing an ineffectual rangefinder jab and was getting out-jabbed and counter-hooked at will. It happened in the first round when Diaz was throwing out that ugly left "hook/overhand/whatever it's supposed to be" and was getting drug with the lead right that Penn was timing perfectly. Diaz's boxing is ****, he got away with it tonight because Penn in round one and Penn in round two were totally different fighters, you know, a result of the same ****-poor conditioning that Penn has been infamous for throughout his career. Diaz got lucky that Penn didn't bother to train for him any more seriously than he's trained for any of his other WW fights and he got lucky that the guy he was facing isn't one to dig deep when the cardio fails. He's already been exposed and it will be to a greater degree when he finds someone that not only has a wrestler's cardio but also has some semblance of the knowledge of the sweet science. Now **** off back to pro-wrestling you ****ing ******. You have no knowledge of boxing OR MMA, none.
His attitude is what set people off but i've been watching diaz for a while now and he has actually mature. He can still be a jerk every now and then but his not as bad as before. Anyways this is his most impressive win in a while. Bj Penn is a pretty good striker and he outstriked him from round 2 and 3. GSP has improved his striking so it will be interesting when he fights diaz. I could see gsp taking this fight to the ground but no doubt diaz will be his most dangerous opponent in a while. Striker and great bjj to go along with it.
BJ is head and shoulder above Nick on a technical plane, totally dominated the first. I really thought his stamina could surely hold out for 3 rounds. It couldnt, and so Nicks insane cardio and chin saw him take over as early as the start of the second. Bad news for Nick is GSP has insane cardio too, he's not tiring, and like BJ he too is head and shoulders above Nick technically. Unlike BJ, he's a boring safety first fighter, so there's even less a chance Nick wins On the other hand, unlike BJ, GSP has a questionable chin and doesnt react well when stunned. So, over the 5, Nick will surely have his chance Anyway, 2 bad ass fighters. Prodigy left the sport with his heart on his sleeve, a granite chinned warrior who had unparalleled natural ablilty, who took on anyone and everyone, and was never even knocked off his feet. ATG Top 5 P4P? He's not far off thats for sure As for Nick, well he proved the doubters wrong yet again. As boring as GSP is, Nick is exciting, and i cant wait for their showdown
Because GSP is going to stand and bang with Diaz and not take him down every single round with ease and win every round with L & P and a few nicely placed elbows to cut Diaz up. Diaz only hope is to do a Matt Serra.
I disliked Diaz immensely based on his public persona when I first got into MMA, then I softened my stance on him because started to think that he was a high-functioning Asperger's case. Now, I really don't give a **** about what he says or does. All of his fights are exciting, and he has a great style.
You are heavily exaggerating how much Penn was coming out ahead in the first round. Diaz was landing too, Penn did outstrike him a bit but it wasn't that one-sided. You just wasnt to make it seem that your analytical abilities are good even though you completely failed your prediction. Sorry kid.
