Im a little surprised that Oliveira is going for the takedown and Islam is striking. A complete role reversal imo
Impressive by Islam. Oliveira is a dog and he's got that wiry strength and is a very awkward and talented customer so to beat him in that fashion is highly impressive.
Chandler, Poirier and Gaethje all got identical knockdowns and just let Oliveira lay on the ground, you can't let a hurt guy just lay on the ground and recover so props to Islam for following it up.
Did he tap early or was the choke real deep, from the replay i thought it didn't look that deep. Also I'm a massive Volk fan but i don't think he has a chance of stopping Islam taking him down. Chad Mendez took him down easily but couldn't hold him down. I doubt Islam will have that problem, he's a strong dude and excellent grappling.
It was deep. Makhachev adjusted it too shortly before Oliveira did tap. Additionally Makhachev is strong and big as **** so with all the weight on top it was a legit tap from Oliveira. Doubt it was quit job or so.
I had it 30-27 Yan pretty clearly. It was competitive but easy to score. The takedowns were what really separated the two, but Yan landed just as big hurtful strikes if not more.
