Your not the only one disappointed. Towards the end of the 1st rd Coleman was a KO waiting to happen and still Shogun couldn't get the job done. He did finish well but really he should have done it much earlier. He is coming back from a from a few bad injuries so i'm going to give him the benefit of the doubt this time but if he comes in the same way in his next fight he is just asking for trouble.
Does shogun have a collapsed lung or what? What the f..... That was an embarrassing fight to watch. First 1 and a half rounds looked great, after that it was just terrible. I'm scratching Shogun out of my top 5 fav list. =/
I don't think he looked great at all. Hes alway's been a sloppy fighter but he used to be all over his opponent throwing **** from all angels like an energizer bunny. Now he looks like hes fighting willy nilly and cant be arsed. He looked like he did'nt train for Griffin or Coleman and lacked respected for either fighter. I mean he looked gassed but overall he just looked like he did'nt really give a ****.
Franklin-Henderson couldve went either way no need for anyone to ***** and turn this place into the general boxing forum. Frankling was obviously picking apart with much superior striking like I expected but he also got himself into to many clinches and wound up being taken down and controlled and striked a bit. All 3 rounds where pretty close personally I watched the fight and said to my freinds that 1st round I may call it even,2nd Hendo and 3rd Rich. No bull**** decision at all here I wish it was a 5 round fight though im convinced Rich wouldve won.
agree.. in due time, he'll be able to fully adapt to the ufc rules and do away with the foot stomps, etc.. and he really has to work doubly hard on his cardio..:-(
I'm just now catching up with yesterday's UFC. I thought the Coleman/Shogun fight was entertaining. I think a lot of Shogun's sluggishness could be attributed to ring rust. He's had such long layoffs since Pride folded. If he keeps fighting regularly - he'll be back up to full speed in no time. Coleman is no bum at takedowns. It wasn't surprising that he was so succesful in securing the takedown against Rua. Baroni wins this year's award for worst MMA cornerman. "You're a legend. He's hurt. This is a great fight!"
Don't get me started on Baroni. Everything that came out of the blokes mouth in Coleman's corner was bollocks. The only redeeming factor was that they could all shake hands after the fight.
Henderson/Franklin was a good fight. Hendo took the first round by effectively mauling Franklin against the cage in the early part of the round. Round two was fairly even as Henderson's style is a perfect spoiler for Franklin whereas Franklin's striking has always been a bit wide and looping. He needs crisper shots against a guy like Henderson. I wound up giving the second to Henderson for making the only effective damage of the round during his brief ground and pound. The third round was all Franklin's as Henderson seemed to gas - no doubt largely in part due to those nice liver kicks that Franklin continually landed. Good fight between two great competitors. I hate to see either one lose.
Yeah - at least they shook hands afterward. Like Don Frye said if you are still angry at a man after hitting each other for twenty minutes - then there's something wrong with you.
