I'm quite sad about this, because I don't think the sport of MMA works at middle and heavyweight. but it's absolutely perfect for lightweight and female mma. Middleweight at an absolute push.

I suspect that UFC pay-per-view is declining and the WEC is increasing. The higher weight classes are going to be relegated for the much more guaranteed entertainment of a top lightweight clash as the headliner.

Can anyone remember the last really great heavyweight clash. I'm not talking about history making, the first Mexican or the first WWE wrestler. I mean really long enjoyable fight?

It has been discussed for ages.

It needed to be done as the WEC was become a force in its own right and it was stupid for them to keep them seperate. It was good for the fans because they got free shows etc However the UFC can now offer an org/product provide for the MMA fan from small to big guys. It's also stupid for the NFL League of MMA to have 2 155 divisions.

It will probably mean more fights and more free fight nights.

Jesus christ could you be more wrong.

WEC has been on PPV once. Did 150,000 buys.

Of the eight UFC shows to do around a million buys, four have been headlined by a heavyweight title fight (UFC 91, UFC 100, UFC 116 and probably UFC 121) and three by a light heavyweight fight (UFC 66, UFC 91 and UFC 114).

With the apparent success of getting Velasquez over to the Latino market and the likelyhood of Mir/Lesnar III the heavyweights are still going to be the focal point of plenty of big shows.

On the main news, absolutely great to see the UFC add 145Ibs and 135Ibs. Long overdue.

I wonder how long it will be until UFC is on HBO. They are growing crazy fast and it wont be long till the big wigs at HBO see how much sense it makes. :-(

anyways, so after 2 more shows, WEC wont be around and it will be instead UFC? Or will WEC continue, just being owned by UFC and they will use all its fighters and whatnot?

Awesome, less free shows and more PPVs!

But seriously speaking, it was bound to happen. WEC ratings were tanking and Aldo and co deserve bigger paydays.

    Yeah, it was inevitable.

    Damn it.

Now I'll have to actually buy the occasional UFC. :barf

So the way I understand it is that all the WEC champs will become UFC champs and the 155ers will fight to unify the titles, or am I wrong? Im on night shifts and this is very confusing hehe
