Fighters were awarded $129,000 bonuses. Fight of the Night: José Aldo vs. Mark Hominick Knockout of the Night: Lyoto Machida Submission of the Night: Pablo Garza
Pride yellow cards where a good idea in theory but they just didn't work. I agree though, $129,000is a big incentive.
it was awesome but you couldnt really out shined machidas kick to the face aldo - hominick was a sick fight
People complain about the UFC but as they have gotten bigger the basics and bonuses have too, substantially so.
I think that the bonuses are tied to the revenue that the event generates. The live gate for UFC 129 more than doubled the previous record. Fighters got $100,000 bonuses for UFC 100, but the amount went back down to about $60,000 for the next few UFCs afterwards and $30,000 for next few fight nights. The amounts have gradually increased, but I seriously doubt that the bonuses will be this high for the next card.
Well obviously they won't...I mean the first three digits should show people the bonus amount is a one night only gimmick.
Wow not that's the kinda money the fighters deserve for putting on the show. Hats off to the UFC for putting on an awesome show last night. The entrances was on another level compared to the usual.
Boom. Im glad someone gets it. That said UFC did it big. That **** looked like a PRIDE show without the ring! Canadian MMA fans are insane. They sure know how to support this sport. The turn out was incredible.
Pride rules fostered a more action packed MMA. Bonuses doesnt really encourage the same or even anywhere near equal to the yellow card in Pride. One good card (excluding the GPS fight) doesnt excuse it from a sea of boring/bad cards for the UFC. The pay still remains low even with the bonuses.
