So then you don't actually need to fight to be considered the best?

If he wants to quit, fine, quit.

But if you want to be considered the best currently, not of all time, currently, you have to fight the best opposition out there. There is a steady stream of it in the UFC. Act high and mighty over Lesnar all you want, you are full of **** and not impressing anybody.

High and mighty? So one had you allude that he's the best of all time but not the best currently? How does that make any sense? I think iv already made my point here. Nothing further needs to be said, because even if Fedor did beat Lesnar the next question out of your mouth would be what about Mir, Carwin, Silva, Machida anybody ad infinitum.

on point 1- If fedor is going to be considered the best out there without question then there are two options 1 to either retire or 2 to fight the best comp. to still be considered the valid best in the world instead of fedor he WAS the best in the world for a number of years.

on point 2. IF lashley turned into a beast and was destroying everyone in a manner like lesnar has AND fedor is still fighting top level comp and being called the best in the world then yeah he would have to face lashley

You could take Lesnar, Mir, Machida, and Silva's records....Add them together as if they were one being, and there record STILL WOULDN'T EQUAL FEDORS!
He is the best currently, and will go down as the best of all time. IF he does go to the UFC I want to see him destroy Lesnar, but let's be honest....Brock Lesnar isn't even worthy to be fighting this man. Beats a old couture, and Frank mir basically. If Fedor beats him legacy wise it won't do much. Make 80% of the UFC fans happy, and like him I guess, but Brock we'll be known as being an ex-wrestler with no skills in MMA.

For Lesnar to be considered the best he needs to fight Fedor as well. This **** doesn't work just one way. Fedor is beating the best of the crop outside of the UFC same way Lesnar, right now, is beating the best of the crop inside UFC. If we are to consider that these are two best HWs out there, for them to prove who's better currently they have to fight each other. Except Fedor doesn't need that because he's been ruling the division for 6 years and is clear #1 unlike Brock.

If Brock wants to beat the best out there he has to chase Fedor not the other way around. #1 Fighter doesn't chase #2 fighter(even though Lesnar is by far not #2 IMO). Couture knew that and tried but what do ya know, he shoelaces were tied by UFC and he couldn't do ****, say ****, or breath without permission of the UFC.

I might also add that Fedor last 2 fighters were ranked at least as high or higher than Lesnars at the time of the fight. Arlovski was #2 and Sylvia was number 5-7 depending on the MMA website. So don't give me that **** about him not fighting the best. He knocked the **** out of the WIDELY considered #2 HW and at least top 5 in ALL rankings. And he WAS about to fight another widely considered top 3 HW in the world. I'd say his competition has been hella better than ****ing Brocks.

He is without a ****ing doubt the best in the world. If he retires today he retires as the greatest mother****ing beast to have battled in MMA and the current, longest reigning, absolute best HW in the world.

Could he beat Lesnar, I dunno. Maybe not. Could he have beaten ****ing Overeem, I dunno maybe not. Could he have ****ing beat Sanchez? Who knows? Maybe Sanchez would've caught him(where would Tyson be without Douglas hmm?). Doesn't matter, with the information we have today, he is better than all of them and has been better than everyone else for 6 years.

Am I pissed at Fedor and M-1 that he's not in UFC? At least as much as everyone else. If you've heard me scream when Fedor wins, u'd know. If you've heard me scream when Lesnar lost, u'd know. I think I'll permanently lose my voice if Fedor beats the **** out of Lesnar. Either way this doesn't take away from him as of right now. It might take away from him only if he starts consistently fighting the likes of Zulu's.

Gsp and Anderson say they fight for a legacy, Lesnar and Couture want to fight the best, Chuck just likes to fight, Tito fights for the money, Fedor fights for M1 global. It's weird but it seems that's what he cares about the most.

He cares about Russia and promoting the sport in Russia. M-1 Global IS the biggest thing in Russia. Fedor supports that. I think his "patriotism" has always been obvious and very direct.

but if brock beats fedor then it forces all of you brock haters out there to recognize his legitimacy as one of the best heavyweight mma fighters in the world and you guys cannot even stand to think about that possibility. it is really funny before ufc 100 most people in the mma forum were squaking about how mir would destroy lesnar after seeing what mir did to nog. and mirs bjj this and brocks one dimensional that, then lo and behold after lesnar gained a little satisfaction from mir in whipping his ass everyone wants to talk abuot how much mir sucked and brock beating him means nothing because he sucks and always has.i can understand not liking brock because he is a former pro wrestler or has a bad attitude or shows a lack of sportsmanship but dont let it cloud your judgement on his talents.

Good post. Your comments are right on the money. There's an old saying. You're only as good as your last fight. And the quality of comp you fight matters.
