And that's why you love him. Because he has the same narrowmined biased opinion of Floyd that you do.

Ha. You caught that on the Broner fight too.

When he said that, I was saying "That's your job, Roy"

Regardless of what he thinks of Floyd (or Hopkins for that matter), and Jim's BOOM BOOM ejaculation fits, I like HBO's commentary as a whole. Usually Kellerman and Stewart counteract that with some logic. Even thonugh sometimes Kellerman is just... wow. Showtime's is still the most legit commentary imo. But anythings Mario Lopez and that ridiculous Top Stank panel. Jesus Christ. They don't event comment on the fight. "I'm just in awe of how great Pacquiao is. He makes me want to leave my wife and change my sexual orientation." Really? gtfoh man.

Without Merchant it would be a very humurless affair.

“He's so good, you wonder what's wrong with him.”

"Promoter Dan Duva said this is the best fight in Virginia since the Civil War. He may be right."

"Vasquez has been snorting in the ring like a bull, and this is a bull and bullfighter type fight, except that Whitaker carries darts rather than a sword."

"Roy Jones is the hardest kind of fighter to fight, because he's hard to hit and he hits hard."
    One of my favs..

"Fernando Vargas may have had a 6-pack on his stomach...he did not have a 6-pack in his chin."

"Hopkins said this will be a fight between two construction workers fighting over a sandwich after a hard day's work. Will we get a Roast Beef sandwich or a Baloney?
His comments can be priceless. Plus he's an old man stuck in his ways. People need to cut Larry a break.

Merchant has been pasted it for years, he rarely sounds like someone that enjoys boxing. For the most part he only enjoys one type of fight/fighting style. Which makes no sense, when being a sports commentator. I dont know how some people dont see this, and accept this from a sports commentator.

Fighting styles are subjective interms of enjoyment, and a commentator is suppose to teach fans to enjoy and try to understand all types of styles. Cause thats what the sport is.

MMA/UFC commentators do a good job of trying to do that. Most times all Merchant does is encourage fans to enjoy one style, and that especially hits hard with casuals and those new to the sport. Which is a horrible introducing to boxing.
