UK Boxing this week

I agree, I thought it was very close and the KD probably decided it, I honestly don't think that's an outrageous opinion.

Yeah, this "Robbery" nonsense it so irritating, when Hearn is scoring it a draw and it's involving his fighter on his show then how can anybody call it a "Robbery"?

I was delighted Ball got the decision, I won money on her, at the final bell knowing it's a Matchroom card I thought she might get a draw at best, simply because I expect the Matchroom Favourite to get a decision in a close fight.


Courtenay has done herself some serious damage after that loss in my opinion, she wasn't taken to hospital as far as we know, she wasn't battered, she was just beaten and she has given no comment or interview as far as I know.

Nothing, not so much as a quick tweet saying "Congrats to Rachel, She fought a great fight, I thought I did enough to get the W, it wasn't my night and I'm gutted but I'll be back stronger than ever". And a few hashtags with some old cliches.

Some crap like that, a little bit of good grace, but NOTHING, walked out the ring, straight backstage, cried, went home, took off 5-0 on her twitter and hasn't been seen or heard from since.

Let's have it right, if any other fighter who lost a decision acted this ungraciously they would get savaged, I don't expect her to accept defeat well, she's a fighter but at least congratulate your opponent and thank your fans for the support.

Instead we have IFL and a few others trying to run with this narrative Courtenay was somehow wronged and she's crying and absolutely heartbroken.

Embarrassing behaviour from all involved on Courtenays side and it should and probably will cost her a few fans.

 

Happens all the time, Cormier walked straight of the ring last night after the decision and he is one of the greatest fighters of all time. She was dissapointed in the card (77-75 Foster) not difficult to understand why as she is a young ambitous fighter. I am sure they will push for the rematch unless Eddie pulls the plug which is my suspsion of whats going on here.

 

She's 27 years old, she hasn't got the excuse of being a stroppy teenager. She must have some life experience and faced disappointments before. She reeks of arrogance and looks like a spoilt brat.


Also, Cormier gave interviews backstage, he spoke to other media outlets. He was retired last night, it's all over for him and he would have been very emotional, still spoke and thanked his fans.

Other examples in the UK were fighter must have hated getting in front of a camera,

James Degale lost to bitter rival Groves early in his career, sure he salty as F, but still gave interviews, still showed his face.

Khan was blitzed and embarrassed by Prescott, still gave interviews straight after the fight, showed his face.

AJ, dropped 4 times, embarrassed and humbled by a 16/1 underdog, still congratulated Ruiz, gave an interview and was gracious.

Last week, Jonas was very disappointed, at 36 years old, could be her last chance and was given a draw in a fight many thought she won, she wasn't absolute class afterwards and was very respectful and gracious.

There are many more examples.


But if you're going to get in front of a camera whenever you can, have little puff pieces on Sky, get on IFL, Boxing Social and Matchroom when everything is going well and you're the "star".. bang on all week about showing everybody how good you really are ..

You can't just sack it off when it goes boobs up and blank everybody, especially the fact she hasn't said anything in the way of congratulations to Ball and hasn't thanked her own fans.

All she's done is retweet something from Ben Davison praising HER, ridiculously arrogant behaviour.

If you've got time to retweet praise for yourself for losing then you can take 2 minutes and congratulate your opponent publicly and thank your fans for their support.

This is why she is disliked by many people and why many celebrated her defeat in my opinion, she might be sweet and nice when it's all going her way and people shower praise and love but the first sign of trouble or the first time she's faced adversity in boxing and she's mentally crumbled and hid.

You can tell a lot about somebody when they win but you can tell more about somebody when they lose and Courtenay has shown exactly the sort of person she is in my opinion.

There is a lot of that going around, she's going to have to toughen up because her after fight antics haven't gone over that well from what I've seen.

 

The general public agree about her being a bad loser. Twitter is full of comments about her running away and hiding after the fight.

 

I think this week Eddie Hearn will get in her ear, tell her that she's going to have to speak up and show her face and explain how bad this is looking.

So Hearn will send IFL Kugan to meet her and give her a really soft interview and do a little bit of PR.

 

I think she will have learnt a lot from this.

However she does need to come out and congratulate Ball and say thanks for all the support.

Now she knows she can get off the floor to potentially win, she needs to mature as a fighter NOW if she's to have success.

I'd keep a relatively low profile, do interviews still though. Talk about what your looking to improve on in the future, just speak plainly about your next fight etc.

 

I thought she lost the fight and was chuffed when the right decision (in my eyes) was made as I expected the usual ‘A’ side to get the nod. That said, Courtenay impressed me with her movement and the way she moved under Ball’s jab and hooks to try and land her own. That shot that knocked her down would have taught her an awful lot. That was probably the first time she’s ever been chinned proper. It showed the level of puddings she’s previously been in with, and finally she came across someone who punched back.

 

That's the sad thing in my opinion, Courtenay did better than I expected and that left hook that put her down, DAMN, Courtenay did exceptionally well to get up and fight her way back in to the fight.

She did herself so many favours by battling back, proving she isn't a complete hype job, proved a lot of people wrong but then she does this hiding away thing, retweeting a positive messages about herself and doesn't even congratulate Ball or thank her own fans.

She basically cried and sulked, I understand not being happy about losing, I believe most fighters are devastated when they lose, but the vast majority will congratulate an opponent and thank fans for their support.

It wasn't a really bitter fight, it wasn't a bitter build up, so she has zero excuses for her post fight behaviour and I personally beliebe she will suffer greatly for it.


All smacks a little bit of Ronda Rousey, but at a much lower level, that arrogance, she won't talk after a defeat, won't congratulate her opponent, won't do interviews, Although I expect Hearn and maybe a few others to get in her ear and insist she does sooner rather that later.

But She is happy to jump in front of a camera and retweet stuff if it is up her backside, this isn't doing her any favours and that's sad because she was in a good, competitve fight and did herself proud.
