Yeah, Donaire has pressure on him, but has he not dealt well with pressure in the past against dangerous, good opponents?

This could indeed be Rigo's big break, but if he loses, the game is over before it has really bagun, no? Isn't that bigger pressure?

how has he dealt with pressure before? Nonito hype if sky-high, people are talking about him being at the top of the p4p list, he's having a kid, etc....alot of pressure is on him to perform here and if you've watched his fights, post fights, and interviews and extremely obvious that he's aware of the perception of him.

IMO rigo will put him into deep water and drown him. what will donaire do if Rigo takes the first 5 rounds? how will his mental state be? will he fight aggresviely? if he goes so he's hettig hurt - mark my words

remember rigo came here for one thing - to prove he's the best. he left his faimly, he left his home country, the place where he achevied his success as a boxer for THIS OPPERTUNITY RIGHT HERE. to the haters who think he will run once he feels the power are DEAD WRONG and they are brainwashed fools!. Rigo left everything he has for THIS NIGHT!!!! Do not underestimate that fact alone! Rigo is here to win and has been looking foward to this night and left everything he has for this. Let that sink in!!!

this is just my opinion, if you disagree good, but don't take it so personal

I wasn't taking it personally at all. I don't disagree either. Just made a few points and wanted to know what you thought!:good

As you say yourself, this is a huge night for Rigo. A lot is riding on this fight for him. He is alone, with little money, away from his family. He cannot even go to see them! He has sacrificed his family life to make it! He'd better!

Donaire, on the other hand - rich enough to retire now, with his family and a son on the way - everything looks great - if he loses, he loses, he's still got a good promoter who can get him good fights.

But if Rigo loses, he goes to a very dark place. This should motivate Rigo tremendously. I know he can deal with pressure. I hope we'll see the best version of Rigo possible! Hope it's good enough!

I love Donaire, but I would be very happy if Rigo, the underdog, beat him!

This is going to be the greatest fight ever in boxing, bigger than Tyson-Holyfield back in the day. This fight will not be decided until the championship rounds and my prediction is Donaire by late stoppage.

I think this fight will be a highly tense chess match with very mean punches thrown by both guys, think Donaire wins by decision and will be very close with alot of arguing in the forums afterward. i think Donaire is more upto the task of handling Rigondeaux's power and thus think he has the better chance of getting a kd or two, imo one of the kd's will most likely come from trading with rigo's cross with his signature left hook

There's my prediction, a little specific and big room to backfire on me but atleast i have it out on record.

Edit: Had a change of thoughts, final prediction as is, tough to make my mind up on this

I think this is a pretty good breakdown. I think it will be a good fight but donaire has better defense I think then some people assume. I'm looking forward to it

No you don't, you just need great accomplishments. Figthers like Mares and Viloria aren't very good defensively and yet they are ranked higher than Rigondeaux P4P by most boxing folks, and rightfully so.

Short and sweet indeed. You didn't talk about Rigondeaux's technical flaws, the fact that he uses his right hand as a lazy range finder instead of jabbing, the fact that he has a tendency to telegraph his shots when he got his man hurt and the fact that his right hand is always hanging low.

Boxing is not necessarily about who has the advantage in a list of specific attributes, it's more about how would fighter A's attributes work against fighter B's attributes. And there's also things that you can't measure like explosiveness (which is different from speed) instinct and ability to improvise.

Now this is just laughable. Are you seriously saying that Rigondeaux's amateur experience is more valuable than Donaire's professional experience when it comes to their upcoming PROFESSIONAL fight? :rofl I'd take pro sparring experience over amateur experience. Get real.

This breakdown is about as objective as you would expect from somebody who has Rigondeaux as his avatar and username.

Are we allowed to take the fact that Donaire was less defensive in order to produce more offense for excitement purposes?

It wasn't like he was ever hurt or in danger, and those guys weren't exactly there to excite the crowd... And ever since the spot-light kinda fell in his lap, he's been really needing a good exciting fan friendly performance in order to keep people interested, hence the Arce fight

This is a good breakdown. I'll just say I think Rigondeaux is phenomenal...I enjoy watching the precision, defense, and footwork. Both fighters get major props for fighting the other in this day and age of avoiding and ducking the toughest competition. With that said, this is a fight that I've looked forward to for a long time...
My pick for this fight has changed in the last few days actually...I think Donaire has a complete professional respect for Rigondeaux's talents and ability... and he should!!! Or else he will lose...perhaps in a devastating manner.
I feel Donaire is going to close distance, staying in punching range, but not press the action. The openings will be there for Rigondeaux, but is it a fool's gold? Giving up a target for the opportunity to throw a counter? Make no mistake, Rigondeaux will have plenty to think about facing an offense like Donaire possesses. Alot has been mentioned about Rigondeaux's body punching, and rightfully so...but I feel that initially Donaire will be aiming right hands towards Rigo's body, and that Donaire will be MUCH more cognizant of his spacing in this fight...because he will have to be!
I think a counter left hook from Donaire catches Rigondeaux in round seven.

    Donaire KO7 for me.

Ok... Will be bumping after the fight. We'll see is all I can say for now. Also, your underestimating Rigos amateur career. He's seen far more in the ring than Donaire, elites, like of Mares and Gamboa.

Rigondeaux is definitely a beast in the ring and if Donaire beats him there will be no doubt that Nonito is P4P #1 in the world.
