Barkley being a favourite against Toney when he was forced to drain back down to a weight he was no longer comforable at and had looked on the slide for years is a great indicator of sheer incompetence.I don't remember many thinking he had much of a chance. He barely beat ancient Hearns.

    Where about:

    -Monzon-Benvenutti?

Monzon was still an unknown entity and most assumed he was just another southamerican journeyman, but he took Nino to school

    -Leonard-Duran II "no mas"

My impression is that after Montreal, most people assumed that Duran was top dog (including Duran himself); but SRL fought in a very smart way, "dominating" the fight because he managed to negate and frustrate Duran up to the point of quitting.

This is another very good one.

Would Lewis-Evander 1 count?, seem to remember Lewis being the slight underdog going in, unless I'm mistaken.

It was a draw but a complete robbery too imo, like Whitaker-Chavez, which I guess could be another one.

Wasn't Calzaghe the underdog against Lacy?

    Cuevas Espada 1.

Espada was a respected champion and Cuevas was an 18 year old kid with a 17-6 record or something like that and was also coming off of a loss to Andy Price.

Cuevas utterly destroyed him in 2 rounds.

    Nice, great read dude.

A lot of these seem so obvious in retrospect, just goes to show you can never be certain, in this sport especially.

Salvador Sanchez -Danny Lopez I Sanchez was unknown at this time while Danny Lopez was almost a house hold name(always fighting on national Tv) and considered a great by many experts

Michael Spinks-Larry Holmes I in the first fight he had his way with Holmes... Many including myself thought Holmes was gonna go right thru him

Buster Douglas- Mike Tyson suprised this hasnt been mentioned.
