Parker was forced out of his "natural" way of fighting this time. I think in future he will be more able to bomb like normal. Takam has a freakish granite chin. Parker had the goods but needs work.
I can't believe how Takam absorbed some of those punches. He gets rocked and then bites down hard on his mouthguard and continues coming forward. The highlights of the fight nearly mirrors the rumble between Takam and Povetkin. The was some vicious shots by both fighters. Parker has come through the test with a definite passmark, and with a number of things that can be easily ironed out. The movement back and out of trouble needs working on, but he did show some very good outside work and a very solid chin. Next fights need to be against the recognised top 30 opponents, until a chance of a title shot. I probably would be happy if AJ goes for a unified belt shot before Parker, just to give him a bit more time. He is just 24 afterall.
Kid's just 24 and has proved he has the attributes you can't teach - chin and heart. And having just fought Takam he's comfortably ahead of where his current rivals were at the same age in terms of resume. That said, if the title of the thread had a "yet" in it I'd agree. Parker has potential to burn but at this point would do well to take two more fights of seasoning before taking on another fighter on the level of Takam, to tune up the things you can teach. I'm also unsure whether Barry is the coach to take him to the top.
Oh calm down, he did fine, he gassed way quicker than he should have but other than that, he did a decent job fighting and legitimately beating a guy Perez couldn't beat and was even with Povetkin going into the 9th of their fight, and of course Povetkin had the meldonium to help him so he didn't fade and Takam did, and a fresh fighter in the 10th is capable of KOing a spent fighter who's gassing. I doubt Joshua would fare any better.
There is nothing Parker can do about his lack of reach. In this age of super-sized heavyweights that is going to mean he needs a lot of power... and that is something else he doesn't have on yesterday's evidence.
Joshua has a longer reach than Takam. Takam had a longer reach than Parker. Joshua will likely be able to control the fight off his jab, which Parker was unable to do throughout the contest.
You clearly don't like Parker... most of your posts seem to be cutting him down but it's getting to the point of trolling now. Joshua was more rocked in his fight against a substantially lesser fighter than Takam in Dillian Whyte. It took 7 rounds to knock out that same lesser fighter whose defence was poor and offence was inaccurate and wild and he was gassed to the point of doing little in the later rounds of the fight. Parker is undefeated, learning quickly and fought at a higher level than most of the new contenders and the only attributes which have proven to be selling him short are things he is in control of and able to work through. End of. No matter what you want to think or say doesn't change it, feel free to be in denial but the biggest risk to AJs train being derailed has a guaranteed go with him.
I don't dislike Parker at all. I wish him all the best. I just think his reach and power are going to be a problem at the higher levels. If anything, I dislike Joshua as I can't stand hype machines. I'm a Fury fan, if you'd like me to put my cards on the table. Parker doesn't have a hope in hell of beating Joshua or Fury. Or Haye for that matter.
I remember mentioning this just before the fight when people were saying Takam was going to win by early round KO.... Parker hasn't ever been serious stunned, let alone dropped and he's shared a ring with enough serious hitters in his time. The Samoans have concrete chins, Tua vs Ibeabuchi is one of the best chin fortitude fights I've ever seen
