actually, holyfield could punch at heavyweight. super-heavyweights would try to just blow out the "natural cruiserweight" at great risk.

Don King is the best promoter in boxing history, a great showman with tons of charisma, & is comedy gold.

    Hardly unpopular.

Only Arum & McMahon come close.

Fair enough, but generally people have a hard time from distinguishing his moral character to him as a business man, & don't give him his props as one helluva promoter.

    Agreed.

Just solely as a promoter, he's phenomenal.

I absolutely agree when it comes to comparing fighters from different eras and/or weight classes.

Yeah you're right, it doesn't work under the two conditions you mention...not for me anyway - it's just too abstract. When comparing two fighters from the same weight class and the same era (assuming they never fought), it"s not such a conceptual leap so at least you can visualise that more easily.

'88 Mike Tyson would be too small to rule the heavyweight division since the appearance of Bowe and Lewis in the 90s onward:

    Yeah.
Really I should be doing my tax return today.:bump

But I should note all the data is from boxrec
    Ring ratings by year
    Weight
    Height
so their might be some discrepancies

I appreciate the time it must have taken to do that.
It probably deserves it's own thread.
