    Hallo bum of the week,
with John Henry Lewis it is a similar tragedy as with Michael Spinks. Spinks is remembered because of his clear defeat against Mike Tyson. Lewis is remembered because of his defeat by Joe Luis. The good fights of both guys seem to be forgotten.

Whoa There! Michael Spinks is remembered as one of the best LightHeavyweight Champions ever! & unifying the Championship with a victory over the very dangerous Dwight Braxton. & the first fighter to defeat the great Larry Holmes. Bob Foster & Archie Moore will not be remembered for there shortcommings in the Heavyweight ranks either.

Yaqui Lopez with a break or two, could have been champ.

He looks incredibly ripped compared to other fighters of his era.

I read an article about Berlenbach ,years ago ,it said he was allmost a mute ,but suffered an electric shock which restored his speech,he was a fine wrestler ,up to Olympic standard ,no boxer of skill he was a dynamite puncher ,his great adversary Ovila Chapeldaine ,aka Jack Delaney the French Canadian was not only a terrific puncher but a fine boxer too, that made the difference in their series .Jack Dillon gets criminally overlooked today ,he was a great fighter.Jimmy Slatterry was a skilled boxer the forerunner of Billy Conn, yet he also never seems to feature on this site.

The fact that he was a Canadian boxer may also diminish his status against the great light-heavyweights.

    Mauro Mina

Being Peruvian didn't help his cause as he didn't really have any political clout behind him. Beating Foster probably didn't help either. Great fighter shame about his early retirement.

HAROLD JOHNSON - Although he didn't hold the title for many years,
he was a good boxer that defeated th likes of Doug Jones, Eddie Cotton
    and Eddie Machen.

Mauro Mina one of the most underated fighters of all time. he is in my top 10 list at 175lb. i dont think people realize he was the only lightheavyweight ever to beat bob foster

Good call. I forgot about that guy.

Delaney and Berlenbach are the obvious choices IMO. If memory serves, Berlenbach was a championship wrestler before turning to boxing.

More recently, I would go with Henry Maske as maybe not being a ATG but very under-rated. Boring, I know, but effective. Very tall, difficult Euro style and only defeated once, a defeat somewhat avenged.

I have seen Delaney in action, great fighter, fights a lot like Gene Tunney. Vs Berlenbach of couse.
The 3rd fight. Delaney should be in the top ten imo. He has the record to back him up. Also he was the top man of his era. OF couse Loughran took over shortly after the Delaney era as far as champion reins go, but he was still a ATG.

Jorge Ahumada was robbed against a fading but still very good Foster.

Wassaja beat a shot Foster and Mina beat a young pre-prime version.

Those are bobs defeats at light heavy.
